thanks for your opinion. also, i think due to 0% interest on financing, dealers are not going down much. according to you how much percentage of discount is considered as a good deal over MSRP.

">link titleI didn't realize that you took the 0%. In that case, you did fine. That 0% is worth some serious $$$ on a car that expensive.

Sounds like it is a pretty good deal. New incentives are out now. For example MSRP $45,505 (SLT 2), 42,806 supplier price sale, plus $2250 cash back (40,556) or 0% for 60 months.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum downpayment when selecting the 0% financing offer?

My plan was to put $12,500 down but if i can finance the full purchase price, i maximize my savings using the 0% offer.

Financing $42,500 at 0% has a present day savings value of $4,506 vs financing at 4.5%.

Financing $30,000 at 0% has a present day savings value of $3,181 vs. financing at 4.5%.

Both of these assume 60 month schedules. Both are significantly better than the $2,250 cash off incentive.

Found this information on another site. You can finance the full wholesale value of the car. Taxes and fees need to be paid for out of pocket. Good information to know.

there is no minimum down payment required when selecting the 0 % interest financing offer. Even you can add taxes, title and documentary fees in the financing amount. But the difficult part is qualifying for 0% APR. if you have good credit and stable bank balance, then you will qualify. Dealer will give you car at no down payment.

remember if you finance whole amount then the monthly installment will go high.
but still i think its a great deal.

Thanks for the additional information.

My understanding is that the primary qualifier for the 0% is a 700+ fico score. I'm right around 800 right now so i should be good.

Yes, the payment would be high. My plan would be to leave the $12,500 in a separate savings account pulling out $300 or so a month to supplement my regular payment.

I am looking at buying a 2009 GMC Acadia FWD SLT-1. I am located in the West Texas Region and the dealer I am doing business with is offering me the "Dealer's Price" of roughly $38,000 with either a total of $2250 in incenctives or 0% financing for 60 months. With $6000 down the monthly payments were calculated at $537. I am a first-time car buyer and am a little skeptical about the price. I feel that because of my age the dealer is trying to stick it to me. Does anyone have an idea of what I should settle to pay for either this vehicle or a SLT-2?

That's impossible to tell without knowing the MSRP on the vehicle and how it's optioned out, but here's a quick method: Start with the invoice price on your vehicle including options less the destination charge, subtract 3% of the total MSRP including destination for holdback, subtract the $2,250 in incentives (if there are any other "hidden" incentives that you know about, subtract those as well), add 3-5% to that result for dealer profit, add back the destination charge. That should get you close.

We just left the dealer, bought a SLT2 with all the options except navigation. We were really looking for a SLT1 with the 7 seat configuration and leather, but it is hard to find in our region (so. cal.) We paid $38,500 before rebates. Our rebates added up to $5,250 so $33,250 before taxes and License. I think we did alright, but seeing that we were looking for the SLT1, we still paid more then I wanted. At least the wife is happy.
