And Mercedes has a horrible quality reputation, with all the problems far costlier to repair than on domestic vehicles as a general rule.

That's because no one is paying $45k for a GM...most people are paying near invoice, and even lower with the rebates that were going on.

I paid a bit over $40k for OTD price on a $45,310 vehicle. If you add on tax for the MSRP, then you add almost $3k to the vehicle price...bringing it over $48k. So I consider my $40k OTD price reasonable. If I didn't have a GM Credit card with all those earnings, I probably would have bought...well, I don't know what I would have bought. I needed three rows of seats that were easy to get in and out of, and I didn't want a minivan. That meant there weren't a lot of options.

I ordered a 2008 Slt-2 on 7/2 and its due to arrive on 9/4 so the 6-8 weeks I was told was pretty accurate. GMC didn't manufacture enough for the demand on the 2007's. I heard they are putting on more shifts to make the 2008's. The Acadia exceeded their expectations so I guess thats the reason for the delay.

I bought in Northern NJ and also got the supplier price. Its a Slt-2 w/navigation and headup display added. MSRP was just under 41k and I got it for 38,700. Its coming in on 9/4 and the dealer now is telling me that I cant get the 1000.00 conquest rebate along with the supplier price. I'm working on him on that one.

I believe the dealer is right. I don't think you can get the conquest rebate when getting the supplier discount.

Show me the fully equipped ML500 for $45k and I'll buy it today. (Even if it means leaving two of my kids and most of our gear home). These two vehicles are not comparable in price, seating capacity, interior volume, or overall utility. While the Benz clearly outshines the GMC in performance and panache, it falls short of the American in the areas that matter to most familiies. I own a 07 C350, 04 BMW Conv, and an 06 Honda Odyssey--guess which one piles up the most miles each year. I love the ML and the BMW X5, I'm thinking of trading the Ody for an Acadia or Yukon Denali because the Germans just can't do the job.
