#31 of 40 Tires for a 2004 Corolla
Sep 10, 2008 (4:39 pm)
Hi, I'm new here and trying to help out my girlfriend. She is in need of new tires for her 2004 Corolla and I have checked a few other sources but am not sure what is the best/most reliable kind of tires she can purchase.
I searched through the discussions here but didn't find the information I needed. I'd really appreciate any assistance in this matter and maybe a link that could help. Thanks alot.
#33 of 40 Tires for 2007 Toyota Corolla

Please, can anyone tell me if Yokohama tires are decent tires for 2007 Toyota Corolla. What is a reasonable price for purchasing them?
#34 of 40 Need new tires after 9100 miles on new car
Apr 26, 2009 (1:19 pm)
Leasing 2009 Toyota Corolla and had 2nd oil change and tire rotation yesterday. Mechanic advised all 4 tires showed 4/32 tread remaining and suggested 4 new tires soon. Have driven car about 11 months and we are senior citizens and drive only 55 mph in 65 mph zones for better gas mileage. Also have tire pressure monitor. Car used for personal use only and there are no other drivers besides my wife. I weigh 160 lbs and wife weighs about 125 lbs and we carry nothing else except us and groceries. I emailed Toyota and I know there is no mileage warranty on original equipment tires but this is ridiculous. Anybody else have similar problems with Firestone Affinity tires??? Next letter goes to our state Attorney General if Toyota declines any adjustment and I will contribute a maximum of 25% towards cost of replacement tires.

I have a question! I just bought a 2010 Corolla LE. I like the drive and everything, but the standard 15" steel wheels+covers just look awful! I have read that alloys improve performance, braking and mpgs, so I was looking into maybe upgrading the steels to alloys when these original tires (only 10k on them, hopefully there's a bit more left!) wear out I was hoping to maybe put on alloy wheels instead. Does it matter if I go with OEM Toyota factory 16" alloy wheels or can I go with different ones? Does it matter if I looked for used alloy wheels? And where's the best shops for new and/or used alloy wheels? Thanks!

tirerack.com is a good place for info.
I'm very happy with the Yokohama Avid Envigor tires I bought recently.

I purchased the Yokohama Avid Touring-S tires about 1 year ago & very happy so far. They meet all the requirements I looked for with replacement tires on my '05 Corolla 5 Speed.
1. Low rolling resistance still provides 40 MPG average in the warmer months. (lowest 39 / highest 44)
2. Long tread life-Rated at 620 (A lot better than the stock Bridgestone tires-rated at only 440)
3. Very quiet
4. Great traction on wet roads.
5. $$Price$$ was excellent-$400.00 out the door at Mr. Tire.

Just replaced OE Bridgestone Turanza EL 400-02 with Hankook Ventus V4.
$395 w/tax OTD after rebate. 50K tread warranty & lifetime road hazard.
Smooth, quiet ride.
Good dry & wet traction.
Might not be perfect tire for heavy snow. I am thinking who wants to drive corolla for heavy snow?
Not so great corner handling.

Wow, this is an old message, but maybe this will help someone else. Get a 2nd opinion!
Sounds like this mechanic is trying to scam you. I have a 2007 Corolla, purchased in 06, and JUST THIS MONTH I am finally shopping for my first ever set of replacement tires (still driving factory). For 2 years, I commuted an hour each way to work, and my car has been from SC to NJ. I have been driving on the worst roads in the USA (NJ's) for a little over 7 mos now, so I feel I've certainly gotten my $ worth out of the factory tires (5 years).
