What is this discussion about? Lexus LS 460, Sedan

Article comments for Follow-Up Test: 2007 Lexus LS 460 L - There's no sense in believing the 2007 Lexus LS 460 L should talk to you as you drive it, whispering about the romance of the road through the tingle in the steering wheel and the seat cushion. If you drop $80,000 on a big sedan, you don't want conversation; you want to be served. (more)

Brakes are Important by dan67

I can remember several times while owning by 2001 LS 430 I've had to make an emergancy/panic stop at speed and just barely by a couple feet (or even by a foot) avoided an accident. The article above indicates the new LS will require 10 to 18 feet longer than my old LS 430 to stop at 60 MPH.

I'm sure the new LS 460 brakes feel terrific for normal stopping but distance is distance in an emergancy/panic stop and I'm going to hope that Lexus has a solution for this very serious issue soon. Meanwhile I hope those of you with the beautiful new LS 460 (and especially the L) give the car ahead more distance in front of you.

I like the grabby brakes - remindes me of the power brakes in American GM cars of the 60's......

To Mr. Nvbanker: Back in the 60's I liked Greasy Hambergers, hot fudge sundays, and especially wild young women. Any of which could end up killing me now. Same with Lexus Brakes. Drive conservatively!

"it doesn't matter if some things breaks or malfunctions on the car, it's about what happens after that."
WHAT? We owned a mercedes and it would always have something wrong with it. I became awful because every other month we would have to take it in for something, sure, it was free, but inconvenience definitely overruled

lets really look closer at reliability. it doesn't matter if somethings breaks or malfunctions on the car, it's about what happens after that.

What happens after that is you have to stand on the side of the highway and wait a couple hours for the tow truck to arrive, drive with him to the dealer, sign for a loaner car, wait for the phone call while they find the problem, wait for the parts to come in, pick it up when its ready, bring it back when you discover what they forgot to fix ........ repeat as necessary.

Braking is an LS strong suit. The car needs just 113 feet to stop from 60 mph, which puts it on a level with sports car thoroughbreds such as the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (112 feet.

Lexus is about 100 years younger than Mercedes-Benz, but, after 20 years of hard work, it has already surpassed M-B and all the other luxury brands in terms of quality, durability, reliability, and desirability among American buyers, an astounding performance. The flagship sedan that started out as the LS 400 and then grew up as the LS 430 has been morphed into a completely new car, the LS 460, that challenges all comers as the best luxury sedan in the world. It competes with the Mercedes-Benz E- and S-Class, and BMW 5 Series and 7 Series.

I agree with you guys lexus keeps getting bigger and bigger better and better has made it big time in 20 years the question is what else can it do in the next 20 years maybe not much or maybe to much for bm or merc to handle anymore but currently are their any reliability problems in the new S class?

I know that the buyers for these 2 cars are completely different but just asking has any1 of you ls460 buyers ever driven the bmw x5?Have read some scary x5 reliability troubles.
