#48 of 57 Things to check before taking delivery
Feb 17, 2007 (10:16 am)
My dealer told me that my CRV is expected next Fri-Saturday at their dealership from Japan. Do the dealers provide delivery the same day, or do they keep it for a couple of days to do the pre-delivery inspection?
Any tips on what I should look before taking delivery?

Generally speaking the selling dealer will have the vehicle in inventory for a day or two until they can get it preped & get the PDI (pre delivery inspection) done. You should go over the vehicle in detail looking for body flaws, scratches etc. Make sure all your items/accessories are in place & on vehicle. You should also test drive vehicle for a few miles & carefully run it thru it's paces to be satisfied there are no mechanical concerns or issues. Last a careful review of the PDI worksheet or check list to confirm all items have been checked & marked as ok & make sure it is signed & dated by the technician who performed the PDI inspection. Make sure your salesperson explains the equipment on the vehicle & that you understand how it all works. "DO THE DEAL AND ENJOY YOUR NEW RIDE"
#50 of 57 After market Bluetooth availability/pricing
Feb 20, 2007 (7:30 am)
I am taking delivery of my CRV some time this week. I am wondering if any of you got Bluetooth fitted as a dealer accessory or an aftermarket accessory and if so how much it costs? My local Honda dealer told me that it is corporate policy to have bluetooth only on Acura models so they don't fit it as an aftermarket accessory.
I think in some countries where talking on the cell while driving with one hand is illegal (UK? Australia?), there are many after market choices.

Many states have similar laws, NY, NJ, CT, CA....
I think CA is proposing a law that would ban smiking and eating behind the wheel as well.

The cell phone law takes effect in 2008. I haven't heard of any proposals for smoking or eating. If you live in CA, you should know that people also fix their makeup, hair, and read the paper while driving!
However, there is always that BT headset or wired headset - vehicle BT is nice but not necessary. I myself use a BT speaker hands free device.

Well, I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 but the bluetooth utility in this is very poor. I was thus looking for something more robust like in the RAV4 limited.
To add to another "illegal" activity in CA - to fix any device (such as a GPS unit) to the windshield:)
#54 of 57 Anyone know about ETA??
Feb 23, 2007 (12:56 pm)

Our CRV had a build date of 11/07/06. It arrived at our dealer on 12/27/06. I am sure the holidays factored into this time frame. So what I am guessing that if this is typical depending on the actual day of your build you should see yours almost any day know. Hope this helped.

EX-L supply virtually gone in this market, and general CR-V supply very limited, a few EX's. Very small discounts from MSRP at this point. Paid $595 under MSRP at Burnsville Honda for an EX-L w/o nav, no mandatory dealer add ons. Nice experience.
Their only EX-L was on hold when I called, dealer owner's wife was trying to make up her mind if she wanted this one, called on a Thursday I think, released to me the following Monday, drove down to look at it, immediately placed a deposit. Still wrapped up from shipping, not driveable.
My POS Subaru had died at the beginning of the worst 3 week cold snap in several years here (and this is MN). Would have willingly paid MSRP, thankful that this dealer took a highly professional, longer term approach to the negotiation, and didn't get greedy when they could have.
Highly recommended. And an outstanding vehicle to boot.
