I have a problem with my stability system. The engaged message comes on at random, as often as 10 or more times during my 40 mile drive to work on some days. On more than one occasion I felt a shift sideways as if hit by a strong wind. The dealer couldn't find a problem, no error code and said that when it happens again, bring it in. Of course, by the time I bring it in it won't be acting up. I can't believe this whole experience. The service rep said I could get a rental vehicle while they continue to test drive the vehicle until they get the same condition. How brilliant is that? The service adviser never heard of this problem. Which brings me to the question, how can I find a good dealer? I have only had my 04 SRX for two months and am really upset about how this has been handled. I'm a national quality examiner for NIST, among other things, and I am a nut about customer service. Replying to: msfur (Jan 28, 2007 5:55 am) Had the same problem with my 05. They had to take the whole front end apart & the steering assembly. Went back twice because the first time the error code had cleared from memory. Seems it only stays there for 30 days - gee wish I could get a quicker repair appointment!! Anyway they did fix the stability problem only now I have an annoying rubbing noise coming from the steering wheel every time I turn. Back to the dealer! They really should issue a technical bulletin/recall on this issue. It is very dangerous. My car would lock up whenever my error code came on & I would have to pull over & shut the car down to reset it. Not always something easily done!! Good luck.

I also have a V6 AWD and it is in the shop right now, three months ago I paid 1,200 for a fix on this, back in the shop and only 200 more miles on it.Dealer called today and told me they had replaced the computer and it should be good to go. Service man got Cadillac to pay for it even though my car is out of warranty

I have an 04 SRX and traction engaged message continues to pop-up in the information center is this the same as problems with the stability. Every time I take it back to the dealer they are unable to find any errors.

Well, I brought it to the service dept and they first took apart the whole dash (for about 3 days) ..well, that didn't work.. back and forth twice..with this..then they put a chip (sensor) in the steering and that has done the trick!!!! no problems..now for 3 months. I am a used car dealer and handle a lot of Cadillacs but have never heard of anything like this. I almost wrecked the car when it activated. I was wondering what sensor they replaced-was it in the steering column or under the hood? My wife has refused to go near the thing until I fix it!
