Recently, the heater blows either cold or luke warm air. The temp gauge never barely goes higher that 100 degrees. Is this a thermostat issue?

My son has a 2003 GC limited. Each year for the last several years, the wiring harness/commections have burned out/melted. I have had a dealership replace the resistors, and my own mechanic has replace dthe blower motor. The mecahnic things the blower motor is drawing too many amps, resulting in the burned connections. Any ideas? This gets expensive every year,

A/C Vent selector doesn't work by NikonJohn

My A/C on my 2004 Grand Cherokee only blows out of the defroster vent. When the problem first started, it would work properly out of the front vent, then it would work out of the defroster vent, but now it only blows out of the defroster vent. I made a plastic 90 degree deflector piece that fits over the vent that sends the a/c back to the passangers. Is there an easy way to fix this? If I can get it only to blow out of the front vents ... I'll be happy.

heating problem by mbouch67

I have a 2001 JGC and my heat does not work. Air is coming out but it isn't hot. I checked the hoses running to and from the heater core and they are both warm but I still have no heat. It will switch from Defrost to front vents and floor ok also. Just no heat. I was told blend air door behind glovebox and that I should get the heatertreater for it. Does anyone have any suggestion or an answer before I buy this heater repair kit on a whim? Thanks.

Hi,
I have been through this and can tell you that you might have a blend door problem or if not, you will in the future on this model unless someone has already been into it. The obvious sign that you have a blend door problem is there is lots of outside air flowing into the car and you can't control it. This means poor heat in the winter and compromized AC in the summer. Usually you will still get pretty good heat on the driver's side but nothing but cold air on the pasenger side, then the problem "migrates" over to the driver's side and you have poor heat there too.
I would reccommend checking the "basics" first. Thermostat and heater core efficentcy. If the coolent level is correct and the engine temp is w/ in range (hafeway or very close on the gauge) check your heater core for flow. I had to disconnect both lines and "backflush" the core, you would be surprised at the junk that comes out of the core. I did this even after the blend door fix thing. If you determine that you do have a blend door issue, by all means check into heatertreater.net This is a great fix and completely "doable" by most folks who know which end of a screwdriver to hold.
Good luck
