Replying to: andrew17 (Feb 27, 2007 5:53 am) Another observation...I drove the 4Runner, LC, LX470 and Sequoia...amongst others and it is easy to be hipnotized by the cushy ride of the LC...but...I think you made the right decision..the ride and handling characteristics of the LC do not imbue confidence when the going gets tricky at higher speeds (over 40 mph). I believe the handling of the 4runner and LX470 at those speeds is superior in every way. Congratulations on your 4runner....

Please disregard if you are offended by an opposing view. For the purposes of this message, when refering to LC it means Land Cruiser or equal from Lexus. The Hyundai has greater creature comforts in it for the money than most vehicles, that doesn't make it a better long term value does it? Out of 36 manufacturers, JEEP ranks dead last (that's 36th out of 36 ranked by JD Powers) for quality/dependability. Don't get me started on how Jeep tanks for cost of ownership. FYI: I own 2 Jeeps. I used to own a 4Runner and wish I could have it back. It did save my life in a 55mph front collision that I walked away from, so I can live with it's absence, just wish I had enough money to buy another. Power, LC has got all mentioned beat. Safety features including those that kick-in during interstate or low speeds, LC has got everyone beat. Offroad capability (not that very many people do this), again LC wins out. Gas effeciency, rukidding me? The hemi, it has TWO firing off of the spark plugs, one to fire off creating combustion to get you going, another firing to burn the gas in the chamber that did not burn the first time because it is so darn inefficient it would toast the system to transfer out all that unburned gas. I agree, the Jeep has a great feel, but really? Safer, better, more economical? Really? Feel doesn't mean anything when your flipping head over heals 65mph because you don't have the safety equip of a LC. Gee, that thing sure had a great "feel" going in a straight line in ideal or close to ideal conditions. It felt great in rain cause it uses heavy metal and outdated technology and materials so it SINKS into puddles that most lighter cars would hydroplane in. Try a little Crawl mode, oh no, nevermind, that is on the Toyota product. How about demanding a dealership allow you to TEST drive instead of Sunday drive your vehicle. I mean slam the breaks at 65mph. Floor it from a dead stop and again a test with full acceleration from 35 to 75 to see what it is like getting on the interstate. Turn the wheel all the way around check out the turn radius, and while doing that floor the gas, hear that dinging when the safety features chime in to prevent you from flipping in the LC that you probably don't hear elsewhere. 4Runner DAC control, wahoooooooo, watch all the rest of the overpriced SUV's spin down an icy hill while my 4Runner keeps me straight and true. Initial cost, yes, Jeep got Toyota beat. Long term though, the Jeep stands like jello in 100 degree heat. Okay, sorry if I offended. Some observations and statements may have no basis in fact as they are completely based in personal feeling with no substantial scientific evidence. I agree with someone up there, you only live once and you might as well get what you like, what ever it may be. Peace!
