Ouch. I'll take my chances with the Tundra...

For some reason you seem to think that the ratings on the GM twins matter to me. They do not. There is no denying the four star rating that the Tundra received. On top of that the camshaft failure. Pretty dismal for a truck just introduced.

So did you really buy one?

Not yet. I'm still on the fence about whether to find a single cab, 2WD short box 5.7 to build up. They don't exist in New England so I'd be heading south to buy one. I'm mostly a Ford guy when it comes to trucks, but driving my buddys 5.7 DC has me sold on the Tundra.
At the moment I am just a spectator...

lol, aren't you contradicting yourself?
That's like saying I don't mind a noisy V8 engine, but there's no denying the fact that GM V8's have been plagued with piston slap issues (which make it sound like a noisy, clattering wreck)...
Just joshin ya

ggesq made the comparison in his post between the GM twins and the Tundra results. If I owned one of the twins I may have been concerned. Since I don't it doesn't really matter to me. I was just commenting on the Tundra.
I did own a '00 Silverado a couple of years back and when looking for a new truck found one dealer who wanted a credit app filled before negotiating and a second dealer who didn't have the color I wanted so I ended up buying something else. The 5.3 had no piston slap. Perhaps I was one of the lucky ones.

You're right, kcram. Post #223 was in poor taste and I apologize.

Your right. I'm sorry for making the assumption that you care about the "twins." It was unreasonable to think that you did care, considering that of the 6k posts you have made on this site and about 75%+ of the posts you made you are discussing some sort of GM product like the GM "twins".
My bad....
