"Many government agencies and companies have recognized and encouraged the use of hybrid cars and trucks with a variety of perks — from tax incentives to HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lane access to free parking — even $5,000 cash back from some companies. With a little research, thrifty hybrid buyers can save time and money while they're saving the environment."
What kind of incentives would push you, or actually did push you, from window shopping a hybrid to buying one?

A cheaper cost per mile operating expense would do it for me; let me save my money at the fuel pump. Let's do away with the tariff against importing Brazilian ethanol and instead of subsidizing corn let's start encouraging the switchgrass type alternative instead.
When people pull up to the pump and see green gas on sale for $1 cheaper a gallon than the regular crude, they'll buy the hybrid or flex-fuel rig without the need for an upfront tax break or a special HOV lane.
