Anyone out there know of any known problems with the new Dodge Journey? I have one that I bought recently, ordered it brand new, has right at 2K miles and is having problems with electrical and transmission (might be one in the same). Is going into the shop for the second time on Monday.

I loved my dodge journey until about 2 wks ago... good power and the transmission never seemed to strain even when trying to merge into traffic or pass. I was VERY impressed with the power it had for a v-6.... I bought it just recently, ordered it brand new, has right at 2K miles and is having problems with electrical (my-gig, lights, wipers, A/C fan etc. sporadically do not work and you have to restart the car to get them to come back on) Also... transmission is slipping, after engaging into gear it takes a long pause before it moves.Often if you are just stopped at a light it "bunny hopss" forwawrd when you step on the gas to pull away as if was not in drive. It is going into the shop for the second time on Monday.

Has anyone installed body side moldings on their Journey? I went to the Dodge website, and it does not appear that they offer them.

Consumer Reports on the Journey - AUG 2008 by concrete1717

"HIGHS: quietness, refined powertrain, interior flexibility and storage space places, access, has a third row, value. LOWS: agility, unsettled ride, fuel economy, rear visibility". CR also states third-row-seat comfort is "poor", the vehicle "feels clumsy and larger than it is", and "becomes buoyant and unsettled, with short, jumpy motions at higher speeds". Overall MPG: 16 (10 city/25 highway). Tested unit: SXT/V6/3.5L/6 speed automatic/AWD/Kumho Solus KH16 tires.

Our new Journey is our 22nd new vehicle and I find it handles extremely well for what it is, also we're avg. 19 mpg all around . I've pushed it pretty hard on some back roads and find it very agile. I've not had it over the speed limit (65) and find it rides like a much heavier vehicle.. JMHO

Everything is believable to me, except how did they drive to get 10 in the city? CR does something weird, that's too low, especially for it to get 25 (!) in the city. They probably just cooked the numbers so they would be signifigcantly less than the Highlander.

I'm adding CR to my GRRR list. I thought I could trust them to have a non biased review, but I was wrong. How in the world did they get 10 mpg city. There is no way. We drive 95% city and are averaging 19, and that is by the old fashioned calculations, not the digital readout. I know the AWD is supposed to get a little lower, but 10 is rediculous. Mine has the sport-tuned suspesion with 19" wheels and it doesn't feel clumsy at all. One more thing...show me a third row crossover where the third row comfort is great for adults, and I'll show you a minivan.

I don't know how to upload pictures. So go look at the GMC Acadia, and the Ford Taurus X. Also the Mercedes Benz R-class. And all but the Benz gets better mileage. But we get your point.

Another alternative: Just rented a Mazda 5 and was shocked by the amount of room and versatility (Chrysler stole the in-seat cushion compartments from Mazda). I would say it had more room than the Journey despite being 10 inches shorter. Gas mileage was better, too.
