Sunroof Problems by ritao

I have a 2003 Axiom 46000 miles 7 mts out of warr on their 3 year. The sunroof will not close, and the dealership says I need replace the whole unit. cost of $1400 labor cost another $1000. I've had no luck finding a wreck or after market part. I asked the dealership if the cables could be cut and just close the sunroof permanent. But I was told the cable keep the sunroof closed. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you solve it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

How is it not closing? I had trouble with mine closing except for the last 1/2 inch. I looked into it and found that a little guide piece on the driver side had become loose and fell below the slide. I screwed it back in and it then worked fine after that.

When I press the button nothing happened.. the garage tells the cables are all bound up. And the only way to fix it, is to replace the whole unit! I took it to another garage and he said the samething. So far, have not been able to find an after market part or a wrecked one. It makes a terrible noise because it is not closed all the way plus I can't have it out in the rain or snow because it will leak. If you have any suggestions ..I would welcome any! Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problem. It is different from what I had. You may just have to replace the sunroof.

For used parts, try:

www.car-part.com

Here you can look for specific used parts. After placing an inquiry, wrecking yards around the country will see if they have the part and get back to you with a quote. It works well and I have often found hard to get parts this way.

For a new sunroof, there is a dealership that often lists on ebay isuzu parts at 30% a discount. Just do a search for "isuzu axiom" and you will find his ad. I bought new ISC shocks from him about 4 months ago and he shipped them very fast.

I have a shop manual CD, I will see if the job looks very difficult. It may not be too hard once the headliner is pulled off.

Good luck!
