Is that 2008 model?
You got $3000 UNDER INVOICE?
Unbelievable! Such a great deal. I doubt dealer made money out of your deal.
I can believe it if that was for a 2007 left-over.

I Guess some clarification is needed.

35360 MSRP
33082 Dealer Invoice ( Which includes 635 destination charge and 411 NY Assessment fee)
31082 Quoted
295 Document Fee
Option of either a 2.9% APR OR a further 1000 rebate (This is coming from the manufacturer for the month of February)

So end of day,
Edmunds Invoice = 30435 (Base for Touring) + 1514 (option Moon/ Bose) + 635 (Dest. Chg.) = 32584
Comparable Dealers Invoice = 33082 - 411 (NY Assess) = 32671 (97 more)
Non Edmunds Dealer Fees: 411 + 295 = 706

Summary: Net Dealer Quote is "1207 below edmunds invoice" + TTL only (no BS fees) , with 2.9 % APR.
If i dont want 2.9% APR, it would be 2207 below edmunds invoice.

BTW, another dealership bettered that by $200 since i posted. So am at "1407 below edmunds invoice" + TTL only (no dealer fees) , with 2.9 % APR.

Am still negotiating, will post final deal.

I appreciate the thinking here, but it does not seem to take into account the term. A longer term reduces the payment therefore increases the LPDR, however without knowing the term the LPDR comparison is a mute point. unless of course you are saying that the ultimate deal is a very long one, and some point the ultimate depreciation of the vehicle will negate leasing vs ownership.

For the record, we signed for an 08 GT AWD + RCK, 1MC, & 2PA in Bay Area. We took a vehicle with a few miles on it and negotiated well under Invoice.

MSRP = $39,760, 10.5k mile PA, 3 years x $468.02. All cost rolled in, we paid first month only for drive off ($468).

Whilst this only equates to an LPDR of 84.9 and change, I am more than happy with the deal for 3 years.

You can get 1.9% for 36 months, btw. I haven't seen $1000 cash back for the CX-9 in February, though, it's not on the Mazda site.

I don't know if it is area-dependent, but your deal is very good compared to what we got SF Bay Area. Here, typically, $500-$700 below invoice. The local assessment fee is about $200 for SF-SanJose area.

LPDR takes into account the industry average of a 24-36 month lease (click on my name to see my previous posts on this topic). It is a comparison ratio of consumer demand that equals value. There are some things not considered in the dominant variable for sure such as miles per year and "throw ins" such as free oil changes etc...

I appreciate your thinking here as well Mav in refute however I assure you the ratio is real. You have incorrectly leveled your costs in comparison to the field as there are fixed costs at play such as money down. You have to equate 2500 down in order to get your ratio.

In your case another 2000 down = -54 per month.

Your sign and drive deal was a good one and your gut has done you well without applying a demand ratio.

Your actual LPDR is 96 which is terrific.
