First of all a great big thank you to all who post here...without the information provided, I would not have gotten such a great deal.
2008 cx-9 GT (white) with blind spot monitoring, moonroof/bose/6cd pkg, Towing, and GT assist MSRP 39,210. Negotiated amount of 28,810 for a total savings of 10,400. I am in the Phoenix area and had a great buying experience from Camelback Mazda. We called them last night and had the car waiting for us this morning for our appointment. Whole deal took a little more than 2 hours including the 5 minutes it took to turn down extended warranty.

Man, now that sounds like a good deal!
Congrats Jenschaef! Hmm, maybe I should be looking at leftover 2008's.
I'm with you on turning down the extended warranty. You can always get one later -- for less money, anyway, when the factory warranty is almost up, or get an MBI policy from your auto insurance company for much less.

I have been shopping around for a 2008 CX9 GT and the max discount found so far is $8000 but the car has approx 5000 miles on it since it was used as a demo car by the dealer. Is this a good deal? Any suggestions?

I personally don't think that is a good deal for a 08 gt with 5000 miles on it. Most people at this point into 09 are getting right around 10,000 off of the left over 08GTs. (mine had 250 miles on the odometer) The dealer I bought mine from had a demo with 14,000 miles on it that he sold last week for 12,000. off msrp. I did run into 1 dealer who had 3 left on the lot that would not take more than 8000 off sticker but those had only a couple hundred on the odometer. Call around to the dealers in the area to see if they have any, and make an appt with a manager if they do. I think I would shoot for around 11,000 off a demo with 5,000 miles.

I would say that is not a good deal. I have a 2008 GT AWD White Pearl and Black interior that only has 850 miles on it and I am currently selling it for $29900. That is $8k off and not even a thousand miles. I know everyone is asking why I am selling it. It is a great vehicle, but right after we bought it our circumstances changed and we need a bigger vehicle like an Expedition or Armada.
Hope that helps.

Looking for the best deal for a new 09 CX9 in the Houston area. Can I get one for less than $23K? I am at $25K for a $31K-MSRP vehicle.

First, thanks for this forum. It's helped me a lot!
I wanted leather, but I found a deal on an 08 Sport that I just couldn't pass up. My wife didn't want leather anyway and I can add it later if I win that battle.
Stormy Blue Mica, black interior, no options other than Theft Avert Window Etch and 3-yr Loss of Gloss (I can't believe they charge $1000 for that). It's a demo with 3k miles on it.
Purchase Price $18,500
I thought $12,500 off a Sport with little options (demo or not) was a steal. That's a little over 40% off MSRP.
The dealership was 100 miles away from me here in Raleigh, but they delivered it this morning for free. I got them to change the oil before they came.
I had driven a GT and I like the 18" wheels on the Sport better as it makes for a less firm ride. Can't wait for the wife and kids to get home in an hour and see it sitting in the driveway. I might even get lucky tonight!
