sunshyne,
My thoughts on "special pricing plans" are they are simply no-hassle, leave-money-on-the-table-to-the-dealer plans. It's the classic taking the candy cane away from an innocent lil' baby.

If you are truly motivated in saving money (and not necessarily time), then consider doing some research.

1. Find out how many vehicles can be found within a particular radius of where you live. I ran an Autotrader search on my vehicle (Infiniti M's) and found almost 30 cars in my state. That's 30 2008's too many burning a whole in the wallets of the regional dealerships.

2. Determine which cars are there hottest sellers. I think (not for sure) that this would be the Mazda 3 - sporty and economical.

3. Determine how much money the dealer could be making on every "Mazdanomic" deal as they sell their hottest sellers.

4. Present your case and let the negotiations begin.

You can also run blue book numbers on the car you are interested in buying. You'll be surprise what the retail numbers will come out to be. Remember, that straight off the bat, as soon as the car rolls off the dealer's lot, it will lose anywhere from 10 on up to 25 percent of it's retail value - depending how the consumer markets like the car.

It is better than the deal I am getting in the Orlando area. I am looking at a 2008 Touring FWD MSRP $33,105 and the best I have gotten offered is $25,100 which is the $8K that almost everyone is getting. So it seems that you're doing better than most by at least $1,500.

Did you have the 1k Mazda loyalty rebate?

Is this a fair price for 08 GT by TXShopper

This forum has been a great source of info.
I see that there's been discussion on what to get off MSRP (8-9-10k).
Are these discounts taking into account the Mazda loyalty rebate of $1,000?
Do you know if there is a Recent Graduate discount program for the Mazda? Ford has one that gives you $500 if you graduated within 1 year.
I have a deal for a 08 GT 41,275 MSRP for $32,365. (I don't qualify for loyalty program) and I am not sure if this is a fair price.
I am in San Antonio
Thanks

What happens if they don't sell by Dec 31st? by negrobello

Does anyone know what are the penalties to the dealership if they don't sell all their 2008 stock by the Dec 31st? Do they continue offering the same rebates (in this case the $8K off) until they get them off the lot or they get a penalty from the manufacturer?

I am looking at an '08 GT for an MSRP of $40,241 and a price out the door of $30,800. They are not offering the 0% at this price but at an addition $4,250.00...either or. I tried working them on the 0% as well and will be going back on the 26th with my trade. How did you work both?

I spoke with the GM regarding the discounts and he said that he would have them on the '08 until they are gone.

Boscoboy: Just confirming your MSRP $40,241 offer, disconted to $30,800, includes TT&L and "transportation" cost. Not trying to question what you wrote, but that would be a ~$12K reduction in price. If so, I'd like to talk with your dealer or get a copy of the offer to show to my local dealers.

Derrickson: What's the name of the dealer in Houston that advertised $10.5K off?

I ended up with another '08 AWD GT that had an MSRP of $39,960 w/ $670 delivery and paid $30,731. We are adding the rear DVD, roof rack and sat radio which we got for $2,050 installed. We could not get the 0% financing and I pressed them hard. I am happy with the deal and we drove it home today.

Sounds like you got a good deal, I know you will enjoy it. I have reached the $9K discount mark on a CX-9 GT (w/o GT Assistance Package) and they're willing to go no more. I had one dealer say he'd be willing to put in the dual head rest DVD players at cost, but I have yet to see what "cost" is. If you have any idea on the true dealer cost on these, I'd appreciate hearing back from you.
