Is this a good price? by dgvet

I was quoted an out the door price of $31,500 for a GT with moonroof/Bose, Blindspot monitoring, Homelink/compass/autodimm. I thought it sounded pretty good and was wondering what others thought. We have talked to SEVERAL dealers! Most of them are not dealing much. They keep telling us business is good, and they are having no problems selling the CX-9. No one came down 10,000 off MSRP. We found that it was closer to 8-8.5K. If you wanted the GT with Navi they were getting closer to 10K. We called some dealers and named our price and they never called us back. We finally found a dealer we really like. Very nice guys! I rather give them our business.

8.5K sounds about right without the navi, which is steep discount for something selling well

Did you verify the claim? Drive to lot after hours, when there are no salesman to distract you, and check the registration sticker on the model you want and also on the other models on the lot. If they are indeed selling well they should all be registered within the last 3 months.

Actually, the dealer doesn't have the car on the lot. They are getting it from another dealer. What's happening is that there are plenty of GT's CX-9's with Navi's , and more of a limited supply of GT's without Navi. We were looking to get one from another dealer without Navi, it was a great price that they were offering, and it sold the next day. I checked their inventory and verified that it was gone. They didn't offer to locate us another one, so we went back to square one. The dealer we are working with now, also doesn't have a GT model with moonroof, Blind Spot, and without Navi. That's why he's searching for us. Seems like more people want the lower end GT's without Navi. 8.5 is a steep discount, and not all the dealers are following that, believe me. We've talked to plenty that were only coming down about 6k.

Has anyone purchased a 2008 CX-9 (any model) on either the east or west coast? If so, what was your "all-in" discount?

Thanks,

James

tristate,
up towards the top of the screen, there's a "search this discussion" field. have you tried typing in states out east or west to see if anyone's posted from those regions? if i recall, one poster "fishoppa" i think, purchased in northern california, and posted his experience recently...

What does that mean? There is no way to look at a brand new CX-9 and tell how long it's been there.

My interpretation: On the window sticker, isn't there a date that says when the vehicle was shipped or arrived or something? I thought there was, but I may be mistaken...

If not, I would agree with you. You'd have to open the driver door & look at the mfg date.

Ops, I meant the state inspection sticker posted on the lower corner of the windshield; it indicates month and year when the car was inspected and is a good indication of when it arrived on the lot Mine has the inspection dated April/08 and was manufactured on Feb/08.

Not sure the state inspection and sticker are mandatory on all states, I am in NC.
