see my post above.
you are currently getting "invoice" (which, despite its name, still has dealer profit in it) and cash back.
you be able to get up to another $2500-3000 IF:
(1) dealer will take more off "invoice" (maybe up to $1000)
(2) dealer gets and gives you the bonus money he gets for meeting sales goals (up to $2000)
a final note, i generally don't like car dealers, and i generally think they try to rip people off.
that said, i think people should use this forum and other available information to get a good deal, but still pay a fair price.
if there is truly no profit in a sale for a fealer, then you are helping put the dealer out of business.
if we all take the view of "these are bad economc times, so squeeze out every penny," then we help create and continue that bad economy.
i hope i'm never put in the position of selling at a loss because i'm forced to.
my 2 cents...

memory seat by nswartzb

just bought cx-9 touring.
didn't want the GT bells and whistles, but really wish i had the memory driver's seat.
does anyone know if it is possible to get a memory unit and hook up to the driver's seat in my touring?
i would think the seat up is the same and only a memory chip and the memory buttons would be different, so i could just attach/plug-in a memory seat unit.
all thoughts welcome, including where to get memory unit, how much to pay for it, ability to self install, how much to pay to install.
thnx.

fuel chip by nswartzb

i've seen ads for fuel chips for cx-9s (and car generally) that claim to improve fuel economy AND driving performance (more HP). see link below (it's long)
what do people know about these? what is the down side of getting a chip that improves fuel econ and gives more HP?
all thoughts welcome.

No. Save your money and, may be, save your car from damage.

You can have "re-programmed" chip to slightly improved HP, usually at the expense of higher gas consumption. But you can't have higher HP and higher MPG. Phyically, it is not possible. Energy has to come from somewhere.

Thanks for 2 cents! I am USED car dealer too (side business) and know exactly what you are saying. I used this forum extensively to buy my infiniti G35 3 weeks ago and it was extremely helpful. Plan to do the same with the Mazda OR Honda I plan to get before December 19th. I just wanted to make sure there is room to go below invoice and apparently there is, so I will not approach this deal through the Ford X-plan (no haggle, Ford price for Ford suupliers/friends of employees) but rather independently. Thanks

fyi paulo... i too am am eligible for ford supplier pricing (x plan / s-plan for mazdas), but forgot to mention it when i purchased a couple weeks ago. as you mentioned, the s-plan amt is basically the delta btwn msrp & invoice, or $1500-2000.

What you might consider (and what i wish i would have done) is determine the discounts you're getting, and add on the s-plan. I believe you're entitled to other promos / discounts IN ADDITION TO the s-plan price. think i read that on the ford partner site.

of course, they can always refuse to give you s-plan plus other discounts, but you never know unless you ask! which i did not

regarding being ...put in the position of selling at a loss because i'm forced to...

i don't know that dealers are being 'forced' to do anything. i know with my experience, the dealers i contacted and negotiated with were several thousand dollars apart. at 1st, i was amazed. didn't matter that dealer X was offering the same vehicle for $X thousand less, etc. other dealers simply said they could not get there. perhaps b/c they would be selling at a loss?

Through this thread, I then learned about the various sales tiers, month end / year end bonuses for meeting sales quotas, and how that can translate to the different dealer offers...

Can you please post your source of how you know what the dealer makes from the manufacturer? You are way off, BTW.

This must be fact, not opinion. Also, since every manufacturer is different, please do not use another manufacturer as a guideline.

I do, however, I am not going to say

While it's no secret that the dealer makes incentive money from the manufacturer (Mazda), it does not even come close to $3,000 per copy. Heck, holdback is paid in hundreds.

Since this thread is meant to helpful to those buying a CX-9, thinking that dealers are making money hand over fist even selling these thing below invoice is just simply wrong. There is not as much money in these as some people think.

As a customer, you should always try and get the lowest price you can. There is nothing wrong with that.
