Replying to: derrickson (Oct 24, 2008 8:08 am) thanks for all your help. I would have pull the trigger if I can get $9k off. Unfortunately, I only get a $8.4k and another $8.3k off, everybody else (including Russell and Smith and Munday) are not even close to that. We are getting closed to November and Consumer Report will have the newest report out (with statistics on 2008 vehicles), I am going to wait. |

Selling at those outrageous discounts only happened when the threat of 09's were on the horizon, as well as the rest of dealer inventory was consistently going out the door, therefore sales objectives were met, and paid incentives over came the initial losses on the CX-9's. Since overall sales are down, dealers still need to keep the doors open, and are not reluctant to sell at those outrageous discounts because there is a reality that the dealer may not reach their set objective, therefore not getting their payout. It makes perfect sense. What helps is Mazda cut back production of CX-9's, and dealers have trimmed inventory. There is not the extreme need to move these 08's anymore.

They do not like it much (really cannot blame them), but that is the way it works in a supply and demand system. At some point, Mazda has to give the dealers enough factory to dealer cash to clear the 08 inventory. Time is on the side of the customer!

New to this and here is what I got...a 2008 Touring with a MSRP of $36350 was quoted to me at the X-plan price of $33750 ($2600 off MSRP) with a $4250 dealer cash (4250 not 4500) for a total price of $29500 and new car interest rate of course, not the 0%. Question, can I from all your experience really do better than this?

If you are putting a good amount of money down, the rebate might be the best way to go. If you are financing the whole thing, the 0% is the way to go. |
