A local dealer is offering $7000 off 2008 CX-9s. Is it a big enough price cut to buy a 2008 when the 2009s are out? Will it hurt in the long run?

If you plan on driving it to the ground or stay with it for more than 3 years, the 08 with that kind of discount seems a much better deal; by 2011 the price difference between the two will be probably less than 3K If I planned on keeping it for 2-3 years only, I would go for a lease, assuming one can still get one. That is all assuming there are no incentives for the 09s, which is probably not the case. |

Dealership inventories and prices are available on the Mazda USA web site. When people discuss getting 10k off MSRP are they including packages and accessories, or is it off the model and trim price? I think it all depends on the dealer offer. The 08 GTs that are at 41k msrp are fully loaded with all those bells and whistles. Most of the norcal dealers are only offering 9k~10k off these fully loaded GT's. They are not pricing any 08 Sports with those discounts....yet. Imagine 10k off of a basic 08 CX-9 Sport...that'd be an awesome ~21 or 22k +TTL price...equivalent to an 08 CX-7.

Derrickson - Gotta love the people of Texas. Big cars and BIG discounts!! You're definitely right on the regional thing. Unfortunately, some norcal dealers act as if they're doing you the favor with the lesser discounts on the lower trim models. Congrats on the cx-7!! I don't even think you can get a base CRV or RAV4 for that $17k price and besides, the cx-7 looks waaaaaaay better! Did you get a warranty with the cx?

We got a really good deal through the internet department with them Hi Claireb - Missed seeing your note earlier.(sorry). I havent been to Hayward Mazda yet. Just checked the mazdausa inventory system and it says they have 31 08 cx-9s sitting in inventory. Gotta be wondering when the fire sale is going to happen cause those '09s are already showing up on the mazda site. Going to wait until end of month and see what's advertised in the papers. Thanks for the heads-up! |
