Hi Bubba,

I'm sorry if I stated something that seemed obvious, I just thought I might help someone. I'll admit that I haven't read all 1200 posts in this forum, I have just been following it for a two months. I did track down your post where you got 10,383 of MSRP on a 38+ vehicle. Truly an outstanding deal. This is the type of information I am looking for, thanks for calling my attention to it. However I did feel that instead of being followed by people who "several other people who were able to get the same (or better) deal" I found most people said they could not touch it. I guess we're just not clever, persistent, or lucky enough.

I totally agree that a dealer will take you more seriously if you can present another offer. Unless you have the time to visit each dealer and get those deals on the back of a business card, an email or a special posted on a website is the only way I can think if to do this. My experience has been that if simply tell someone about a strong deal they either don't believe it or will act like they don't. I have purchased my last four cars from an out of state dealer and the local dealer has never been able to match the price, I wish I had your good fortunes on that. So the email method has been great for me. I didn't claim to invent it, I was just making sure everyone was aware of the good tools on the Mazda website as they have helped me greatly.

And yes teaser units are part of the car business. As when I contacted a dealer who advertised "$10,000" of any CX-9 in stock" and offered mt $8000 off the one I wanted and a dealer who advertised "$9,000" of all CX-9s" and offered me $6000 off the one I wanted. Maybe someone in the right place at the right time took advantage of whatever these were, but it wasn't me.

As far as large dealers vs mid-size, large dealers have sales goals too, so I'm not sure I agree with your logic. I would rather go with the guy who is paying less for the car in the first place.

And for cars disappearing from inventory, I've been told it takes a couple of days for a sale to clear from Mazda's computer. I suppose a dealer may have some motivation for telling an interested customer a car is no longer available when it really is, but I can't explain why that would happen over and over again across multiple dealers in five states.

Hi su_hyd,

I went yesterday to Browns Chatilly Mazda and offered $32,500 for CX-9 GT AWD fully loaded with MSRP 41,160. They denied it. I'm still in negotiation with the manager over there and will post some more info as I get it. They cannot go below 33,452. I still feel 32,500 a decent offer so I'm not backing right now.

If anybody has bought in VA/MD/DC area pleas post, that would help a lot.

Thanks,

Met

metclubin / shyboy,

Why dont you try go to www.fitzmall.com

http://www.fitzmall.com/fitzway/carfind/RESULTSB.ASP?V_XREFID=FMMZ163905:2008-08- -05T01:05:44.727

They have one for around 32,500 and they are in VA / MD area.

I am in Central NJ and I am getting a CX-9 GT AWD with Gt Assist for around $32,300 (it was termed special internet price).

Hope this helps.

Hi Met,

Thank you for sharing your on going buying experience with Browns Chattilly Mazda. I think your offer of $32,500 is a very reasonable on.

nm

Could you tell me what the MSRP of the vehicle you are getting for $32,300?

Also, I have a question for everyone...Since there are so many different models and packages and options, is there a reason everyone just talk in terms of percentage off of retail instead of a dollar figure?

Thanks in advance.
