getting CX-9 Sport All Wheel Drive with the 8 way power Seat, Moonroof/Bose Audio System packages, and Aero packages.

The MSRP is $28,455 and our sale price is $22,722 plus the freight of $670, processing fee, taxes, and tag fee

Is this sounds good?

MSRP with Destination was 39925
Sales Price was 31000 before tax and tags
Took 4000 cash instead of financing and got additional 500 for Mazda loyalty.
This is about 1400 under invoice before the rebates. Others reported up to or as much as 2500 under invoice ($10000 under msrp). I am not sure that was available with my dealer, but another few hundred more might have been available had I had more time.

Against Toyota, Honda, GM and Acura we really felt like this was a value and style winner. I am a past Mazda owner and they do hold their value with reasonable maintenance costs.

Use percentage discounts, not dollars off....

As i've noted in this thread, for CX-9s a good deal is 18-19% off msrp, a very good deal is 20-21% off msrp, the best deals are 22-24% off msrp.

if you buy a loaded GT with $45K msrp, then a $10K discount (22% off) should be fairly easy to get.

if you buy a stripped Sport with $28K msrp, then a $10K discount (36% off) will be virtually impossible to get.

The different between MSRP/INVOICE is proportional to percentage. However, cash rebate from factory is an absolute amount no matter it is loaded GT or a Sports model. So, $$$ off or % off can both be distorted.

Thanks for this info. I too, would have expected the offers to work as you described. But the info I am receiving is "X dollars off a 2008 CX-9". The offers do not specify certain models. So I figure it's worth a shot! For what it's worth, I did get this offer on a lower level model, which works out to ~ 28%...

Thank you for your interest in the 2008 Mazda CX9

i still think % is a fundamentally sounder way to compare sale prices.

in any event if your getting 28% off msrp, take it (even thought it is "only" $9000 off)

How to get $10,000 off MSRP by autobarn_ltd
Sep 04, 2008 (6:11 pm)
Reply
MSRP $42885

Invoice $39,543
Less Holdback $693
Less Dealer cash $4000
Less Volume Bonus $2000

Equals selling price of $32850 plus tax, $150 doc fee & plates

These are the options...

CARGO NET
DOCKABLE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS
PEARL PAINT CHARGE
COMPASS/AUTODIM MIRROR WITH HOMELINK
ROOF RAILS
REMOTE ENGINE START
SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO
MOONROOF/BOSE
GT ASSIST PACKAGE

The reason that there is such a discrepency in pricing is that not all dealers will reach the volume bonus, that is why some are doing incredible discounts and others are not.
