I work for an auto parts supplier and Mitsubishi's Ililnois plant is one of our steady growing customers. Even though my Outlander is built in Japan I'm also glad to support Mitsu's U.S. presence.

The '09 Galants look pretty good, it's on my short list when I replace my T-Bird next year. (I hope it lasts that long.)

toomanyfumes, I really like the look of the new Galant as well. This first pics released didn't do it much justice. But when Mitsu put it on their website so that you could see it at different angles and in different colors, I really warmed up to it.

I found this article on msn.com about Consumer Report's rating of the top reliable used vehicles. Mitsu has two in the list -- the Outlander and the Endeavor. The article is too long to post... click here or copy and paste http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=435706

"...how many times has the misses driven the Eclipse?..."

Still can't get her behind the wheel. She likes to be driven around in it though. On Easter we went to the relatives and she was like a carnival barker telling everyone to go out and look at it, so I guess she's proud of it. But drive it herself, nope. I'm thinking that because it is such a fast car she is afraid of it (I never owned a car that made other cars shrink in the rear view mirror like this one).

Maybe this weekend I'll take her out to an empty parking lot and let her get used to it.

On a positive note both my sons have driven it and have left with ear to ear grins.

New 3.2L Mitsu engine? by oldfarmer50

While reading an article on another subject I saw a reference to a 3.2L engine being available in the Outlander. This was to replace the current 3.0L Trouble is, I can't find any additional info on this and now I can't even remember where I first read it.

Do any of you folks know anything about this new engine? The only thing I come up with on-line is a 3.2L diesel used in the Asian market.

Mitsubishi reveals future plans, working on all-electric models by chelentano

A few days ago, Mitsubishi Motors released a mid-term business plan entitled “Step up 2010″, which gave an outline of the carmaker’s intended direction from 2008 to 2010. The plan includes details on several new models that Mitsubishi is interested in developing, with a focus on creating ‘global cars’ rather than region-specific cars. One of the highlights is a new all-electric model, with which Mitsubishi hopes to be the first of the major carmakers to release.

In a section entitled “Product Strategy”, Mitsubishi outlined its desire to build cars that are more financially and environmentally responsible. This includes an increased focus on mini-cars and small cars, as well as more efficient mid-sized cars and SUV’s. Officials are also focusing on bringing out cleaner diesel engines and increasing the use of the Twin Clutch SST transmission to maximize efficiency. As a culmination of their environmental focus, Mitsubishi will also release a next-generation electric vehicle dubbed i-MiEV, (ie. Mitsubishi Electric Vehicle) before their competitors are able to release a similar product. There are also plans to increase the number of mid-size platforms, as well as build an SUV based on a one-ton pickup truck and build a small, “lower-impact” SUV....

Eclipse is a Guy's Car by oldfarmer50

I know what you've all heard, that the Eclipse is a girlie car. Well, I'm here to tell you it's not.

This past weekend, spurred on by all you posters I insisted that my wife drive the car for the first time. Within two miles she was racing around turns and doing 50 in 30 zones. In short she was having a ball.

Afterwards, I asked her what she thought of it. She said: "You know, I like those big comfortable cars that ride smooth. The Eclipse is more of a guy's car with the great handling and all that power."

So there you have it. My wife says it's a guys car and I never argue with her.

of course it is. I always got a little headachey feeling when I heard people say the Mitsubishi Eclipse was a "girly" car. Please!

Yeah, the new little i-MIEV is the talk of the green vehicles right now. I am hoping they improve the range of the car to something more like 200 miles. In 5 more years our '08 Lancer GTS will be just around 120,000 miles(which won't require trading in for that reason, no) and if the i-MIEV is available with improved range between charge-ups I would be more than just slightly interested in the car.

Is the 2009 Eclipse in showrooms yet? I see they have a TMV price on Edmunds already. I was just at the dealer getting my oil changed today and didn't see any.
Forgot to ask the tech and my sales guy was still sleeping.

How about the Lancer Raliart? Didn't see any of those either. They did have an EVO though. I got nervous just looking at that monster. (I kept getting visions of ending my life at 150mph.)

"...off 26.3%..."

Sucks to be in the car business right now. On the bright side, I am seeing a tremendous increase in Mitsu cars in my area lately. Maybe they're giving them away but I don't recall seeing as many a few months ago.
