Mitsubishi Motors Released a position paper today - Feb. 29 - titled STEP UP 2010. It basically listed the current and near future priorities of the company.

As far as North America in general, Mitsubishi stated that the current economic slowdown would probably cause new car sales to slump and so during this time MMNA would mainly try to focus on improving customer satisfaction and increasing dealership profitability.

They also mentioned that upcoming models ( here and worldwide ) would feature their new automated manual twin clutch SST, newer more powerful clean diesel engines and also improved AWD capabilities.

Amidst all the other factoids was a brief message concerning the Lancer Sportback which I posted in that thread.

Mitsubishi engines by oldfarmer50

I was re-reading some old posts here and stumbled on a reference to the Mitsu 6G7 engine which I have in my Eclipse. As I read the Wikipedia link I discovered that the 3.8L engine I have in my Eclipse is the same basic motor that I have in my Chrysler Cirrus. I was surprised that using the same engine they could come up with a 2.5L in that application. Further reading showed that they made engines as small a 2.0L as well.

I had no idea that they could make such a wide variety of displacements out of the same basic motor. Live and learn.

BTW, the 2.5L in my Chrysler now has 101K on it and still purrs like a kitten. I hope the 3.8L works as well. Both are extremely smooth running engines.

Is the 2.0L in the Lancer the same motor? I would assume not because that is a 4cyl.

That's wild. I had no idea that a block could be re configured like that.

Now has the wife driven that 3.8L yet or is she still afraid of it?

Speaking of sharing, I found the interesting article about Mitsu and Nissan. Click here or read below

March 3, 2008
Nissan and Mitsubishi to expand supply agreement

Tokyo, Japan - Nissan Motor Company and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation have announced an agreement to expand their original equipment manufacturing (OEM) supply involving mini-cars for Japanese and overseas markets.
The two companies currently have OEM agreements in Japan, where Mitsubishi supplies Nissan with mini-cars and small light commercial vehicles, while Nissan supplies light commercial vehicles to Mitsubishi.

Under the expanded agreement, Mitsubishi will supply its Pajero mini SUV to Nissan, starting in the fall of 2008, for the Japanese market, and the two companies will explore opportunities for expanded light commercial vehicle supply for Japanese and overseas markets.

Not yet. The weather here has been so bad that I haven't driven it much either. I still have less than 500 miles on it. Every time we get an inch of snow (every other day) they put down two inches of salt. We finally got some rain today and it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow so I'll take it to work. Yippeee!

"...This was Eclipse's best February in six years..."

Once they found out what the old farmer was driving....everybody had to have one.

BTW, I was driving past my Mitsu dealer today and they had what looked to be a Lancer Raliart on display out front. The color was either Rally Red or Rave Red (was going too fast to tell for sure) with a blacked out grill and a lot of nice looking ground effects. Very impressive looking. I guess I'm glad they didn't have one when I was buying. I might be driving something different.

Iluv had better stay away from the dealers, I don't think he could resist this sweet machine.

Evo MR, When? by tiff_c

Any clues as to when the EVO MR will be out? I've been thinking I might just pony up for one even tho it will dent my budget.
I've heard the GSR is out at a few dealerships but not here and the dealer says maybe a month, but they have said that every month.
Also will the EVO have roadside assistance? The dealer seems to not be very well informed and they have lost a lot of sales staff due to the poor economy.
Thanks

yeah, but as I look at what I already have with my Lancer GTS I feel pretty good overall about things. We're going in a week from Monday to get it's 2nd 'Auto Butler' application put on the paint. Not a bad deal, they even send you a card to remind you. We get the entire car washed/vacummed/protectant-coated in about a 2-hour appointment. And a van ride to the movie theater/mall. Decent deal and the car looks sweet when they're all done.

Oldfarmer - you trend setter. Got the entire country re-excited about the Eclipse
Well, spring will be here soon and maybe you and your wife will enjoy some of those sunny days in the Eclipse (sort of a pun, I guess)

Me and Iluvmy better stay away. The Lancer Ralliart is enticing, that forthcoming Lancer Sportback Ralliart just might get me in trouble. How's the tire situation, Iluvmy? I just replaced the tires on all three of our vehicles this week. I'll be eating in for the next few months.
