I was about 40 minutes late? We live about 35 miles from where I was going to meet the salesman and I didn't tell my wife I was going to meet this guy and test drive the Lancer GTS for 2008 from Mitsubishi! I was going to try the surprise treatment on her! Anyhoo-I still think I deserved a cell-phone ring-a-ling-a-ling from this salesman from Tucson. Two obvious reasons he didn't show or at least call me are: 1)No manual trannied '08 GTS Lancers in yet 2)His dealership needed him in Tucson selling Mitsubishi's Have I written Wildcat Mitsubsihi of Tucson off? BTW-they are currently the only Mitsubishi dealership operating in Tucson. There is a Mitsubishi dealership 10 miles further to the SW from us called Ideal Mitsubishi but the Tucson salesman says they haven't received any '08 Lancers yet. I will contact him shortly if my cell phone doesn't ring with his call in the next few days. We're busy renovating our house so even a test drive could be in another week or so.

he-he-he...I called the Mitsubishi salesman today in Tucson. Turns out he totally forgot about our little meeting in the Benson, AZ, parking lot Saturday afternoon. The Navy Blue Angels were flying at the Air Show Saturday afternoon in Tucson and Wildcat Mitsubishi was signed up to take a '08 CVT Lancer GTS there to show. But I love this new Lancer so much that I already told him that I wasn't mad about him forgetting our appointment and asked if he had any silver, red or blue '08 GTS Lancer's in yet. He said they had one Apex Silver GTS w/the optional Sun and Sound Package in. I found out that I really don't want the Apex Silver 'cause I turned the silver one down. I told him I wanted either the Rally Red or the Electric Blue(1st choice Electric Blue) w/Sun and Sound Package in 5-speeds and that I would buy either of those when they come in. He said the truck is on the way to Tucson and that it would get here literally any day now. Whoo-hoo! Another cool little tidbit that he told me...no one in the Tucson metro area has bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer yet. So if it continues this way and I buy in the next couple days I'll be the first '08 Lancer owner in Southern Arizona! Ideal Mitsubishi of Sierra Vista hasn't received a single '08 Mitsubishi Lancer yet so that dealership can't claim that they have the first sale of '08 Lancer's in Southern Arizona. One would need to head up to Phoenix to find the next available Mitsubishi dealer. So I don't know if any '08 Lancer's have been sold in all of Arizona yet or not. I'm just waiting for his e-mail. We've already discussed particulars but I'll need to cover my backside and negotiate to the hilt on the phone and e-mail from here on out so I don't get burned. Basically the new Lancer GTS is beautiful and it's MSRP price is under-priced IMO for how much car you get. Early test-drivers are claiming that the car feels like a German sports car worth twice as much. I have no reason to believe they're lying to me.

108 miles on way for our 01 Tiburon, and when we traded our 99 Sonata GLS V6 in(sept 2004) for a Scion tC.... we drove 92 miles on way. If someone's got what you want now... Drive! It's not like if you need work, tune-up, warranty work, you would have to drive back to the place ya bought the car from. Still, go for it, I would not bother with the guy" I forgot". That's just me, though. Like I said, I'll drive up to 125 miles one way to get what I want, when I want it. I have heard of people driving nearly 200 miles for a car. lol. take care/not offense. |

Electric Blue 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS as I type this. I am going to get top dollar for our '01 Kia Sportage 4x4 or the deal is toast. The salesman is running hither and tither to the big financier man now. I'll let you know. BTW-this blue one is coming in "any day now". So my salesman said they'd hold it for me. Getting KBB dollar for the Sportage is the current sticking point.

grad rebate and then trading in our '01 Kia Sportage 4x4. Apparently their finance manager doesn't know how to type in Kelly Blue Book.com He is offering about $1700 less than the '01 Sportage is worth according to KBB's dealer trade-in book. So I may have to look at another Mitsu dealer for my '08 Lancer GTS. My last and final offer is sitting on their desk and they have either gone home or want me to cave in and take way less than it's worth. So my wife may end up getting her way after all. Unless I want to cruise to Phoenix to get one. This same dealer in Tucson has a white '08 GTS Lancer in 5-speeds and Sun and Sound package available for me tomorrow if I want it. Trouble is that's the same dealer lowballing me on my Sportsman. They're getting the white Lancer from a Phoenix dealer. I've spent good money on that Sportage keeping it in optimum condition and won't take less than KBB dealer trade-in value for it. We're about $1,700 away from a deal right now as I type this.

I just feel, if it were me,if I could wait ahile, I would wait until information was available, like maybe on Edmunds, to see what prices are being paid, Dealer's Invoice, etc... In 99, we got a GLS V6 Sonata, w.o even knowing the Dealer's Invoice, Luckily for us, we got a salesman who literally had only 1 day left to work , and he sold us th ecar for 150 over dealer's invoice, they claimed(they did not even have the sticker on the window! Our 90 sentra was thsiclose to death, so we took it). When we left, we did see we saved 2,300 off MSRP, and did only pay 150 over dealer's invoice. That was luck. Unless I needed a vehicle now, I would wait, until ya get more info first, on prices, etc.. take care/not offense. |
