Not with the EcoBoost. Look at sales on the F150 EcoBoost - I think that's a good reflection. Honestly, I think the days of bigger engines is over (in terms of mass appeal). Today, it's all about building smarter, not bigger.

I agree completely, it is about smarter, not bigger.

Back in 2008, my wife purchased a VW Passat. We test drove the 2.0 turbo, and the V6. The smaller, turbo-charged engine was clearly the better option (IMHO). Just recently, I test drove a new Chevrolet 1500 crew cab with the 5.3 liter V8 engine, and a similar Ford crew cab with the EcoBoost V6. No doubt in my mind the EcoBoost V6 is the better choice. Unfortunately, it will cost you between 3 and 4 thousand dollars more for a similarly equipped truck (compared to the Chevy with the V8). While I like the EcoBoost, I don't like it that much!

adequate for the new world order Ford Escape. Get a decent grip. Turbo-boost it if you need to feel like the Pittsburgh Stealers and imagine you have a brain.

"Fitch Ratings said it is upgrading its credit rating for Ford Motor Co. and Ford Motor Credit from BB to BB+ and also issued a “positive outlook” for Ford’s future rating potential, a boost to Ford’s objective of returning its credit to investment-grade status."

Standard & Poor raised Ford two notches, "citing the company's new labor contract with union workers and expectations of a strong margin and operating cash flow from its global automotive operations." (WSJ)

#309 of 486 dinged but growing by steve_ HOST

"Ford’s slide was largely caused by problems with the MyFord Touch infotainment system, which also caused Ford to be downgraded earlier this year in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS)."

Consumer Reports Dings New Ford Models (AutoObserver)

That said, Ford was the largest sales gainer by volume for Q1-Q3. Sales were up 17.9%. Earnings were up 1.65 billion for the third quarter, a slight decrease from a year ago. (detnews.com)

Yay! More CR dribble!

Seriously, CR knows absolutely nothing about cars, and are one of the WORST sources for "reliability" surveys. I'll stick to CR if I need a new toaster, thanks!

And they "ding?" an automaker because buyers don't take an extra half-hour of their "busy" lives to RTFM? I've been exposed to these systems, and within 15 minutes, I was comfortable with it, and was able to do the basic functions almost instantly.

Yep, like BMW's iDrive. Early adopters get hammered before they can get the system and their customers sync'd.

Ford's bigger problem right now is the lousy European economy. The flooding in Thailand has affected them some too.

I think Ford may have pulled a Microsoft and brought out Synch too early before it was fully ready. The dumbest part is that I don 't think a lot of the "actual" buyers were clamoring for something like it either.
