I am a new owner of a 2005 jeep. Have to say I LOVE it. I want to purchase a bikini top for the summer, since I live in San Diego. I have spent 2 days trying to research the best kind to buy and I am a little overwhelmed. I am not sure if the strapless header, with or without the windjammer or safari styles, is the best way to go. It came with a softop, so I am not sure if I need the windshield channel or not. Any advice??

If you have no rear passengers, a bikini is nice, but I got a safari as I didn't like the sun frying my neck on drives from Tehachapi to Edwards AFB in the high Mojave desert and 112 degree days. Bikini's or safari's (B/S for short The header and top MUST match. You cannot use a no-drill header with a top that uses the drill-in header. The attachment method is totally different. Assuming you want to go with a black bikini top, you want a top that is for an 03-06 Wrangler TJ. No others will work. Bestop P/N: 51238 is the no-drill header. You will need this. Bestop P/N 52528 is the bikini style (there is an extra number for color. 52528-35 would be the black bikini top. Bestop P/N 52544 would the safari top to work with the header above. 52544-35 would be the black safari top. Shop around for a good price. -Paul |

I own the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X 4-Door with the 3 Piece Freedom Top.I am very happy with the Hard Top here in Florida,BUT is it possible to keep the 2 Piece front Tops on and have a Soft Top for the Rear?I have been searching the net but have found nothing that would allow one to have both. Thanks Derek |

I have purchased the bikini top from Best top and found it to be adequate. however i am having trouble with the install. i have the header and the everything buckled down but i cant seem to figure out the side, where do i slide the plastic into the door channel if i even have door side rails. it just seems to be causing me some issues. if anyone has any words of advise or tips it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I think the door surrounds are multiple pieces and the part I priced (right side frame, 1 of 2 ) was 80 by itself. So you're probably looking at 200 EASY for door surrrounds. I know the TJ bikini/safari covers have wraps that will let you do the top using the cage, but there will be a gap between it and the door. As for rainy weather, neither the safari or bikini will keep water out of the Jeep if it is raining. If you decided to run this top, invest in a cab cover that you can put on when using that top to protect the interior. It's also good and keeping the neighborhood cats out of the Jeep (if ya know what I mean). -Paul

Replying to: erickpl (Mar 19, 2008 6:31 am) but i will look into the door surrounds but, the jeep cover is probably a better option if we are going to go somewhere and dont want to take the hard top on and off. thanks for the assist on this one. all the best Chuck -

| can someone talk about the difference between the two offered tops on the '08 WRANGLER UNLIMITED? I am interested in ease of on/off use mostly, leakage, noise, etc. I think I prefer the freedom top for many reasons, but see myself most-often only removing the front two panels. interested in all thoughts, opinions, etc. | |
