Replying to: pat (Jan 07, 2007 1:24 pm) Corolla -- pleasant, quiet, reasonably peppy, and devoid of anything really interesting whatsoever. The ultimate "snooze-mobile." Civic -- very smooth running & riding, somewhat noisy in terms of road & tire feedback, reasonably comfortable seating, and high strung powertrain. Really have to get/keep the rev's up to make it peppy. Could be fun but requires a lot of work to make it so. Sentra -- easiest to drive of all three. Comfortable & roomy seating, fairly quiet, torquey engine. The CVT is a little wierd at first, but not difficult to adapt to. Overall the most fun to drive any distance at all. |

Since my collection of cars consists of a Jeep Wrangler and Suburban, I wanted to find a third car for commuting. So I did a lot of test driving. Everything from Kias to Civics. With Nissan incentives I was able to get the base, with 6spd forget the CVT, for 12.8k. In my area there is no Civic DX and people pay MSRP+ for Civic LX. In this price range, it can't be beat - ROOM, good power, decent ride, trunk space, killer MPG. At the higher end I would look more Mazda 3 or else where, but it's the best commuter car I've ever had. |
