A remote start will never work on a Ford... by mschmal

If you have a Ford with secure lock, ie the passive engine immobilizer with the "chip" in the key, you will NEVER EVER get a remote start to work, unless you get the right work around.

I know that Code Alarm products require a separate module to work and that some other systems require you to get a programed ignition key from your dealer that will then be permanently installed in the alarm box.

You need the 555F by airraid

Whomever sold you the starter without the 555F is at fault here, dummies. You need the 555F, which is DesignTech's version of the SecuriLok module--the module that overrides the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) that would otherwise require a key to be in the car. If it's like the SecuriLok module, you probably have to program it just like a PATS key after you install it.

You probably should have bought a Code Alarm system, or the Ford version of it, as there is a lot more info on the web about these if you have trouble getting it to work. If you ultimately can't get the DesignTech to work, this would be something to consider.
