AWD or FWD?

You feel good about it, so why ask? Do you really want negative feedback to make you feel bad about it? Enjoy it!!

How can I be sure its AWD? by HokieMom

I'm considering a 2007 XC90; CarFax and the dealer list the vehicle as AWD. The usual markings on the lower third of the tailgate are not there; typically there is "XC90" on the left and "3.2" and "AWD" on the right. Any ideas?

You can look underneath for the rear differential. Or you can drive into some loose dirt/snow/whatever. Come to a stop. Stick your head out the window to watch the rear wheels, and lay into the gas.

My wife primarily drives a 2004 XC90 which we bought new. It's a T5 model. We've felt the turbo five has been more than adequate and gets 20+mpg on the highway driving 70-75 regularly, much better than the V8. The vehicle has almost 160K miles on it and has been very reliable throughout. We're very pleased overall--it continues to drive as new and remains very solid without squeaks and rattles--better than any domestic SUV we've owned previously. We expect to go 250K or more before it's retired and hope to replace it with another XC when we do.

Looking to purchase an SUV by polar_bear

I am looking at buying a volvo SUV. I know this is the volvo section of the forum thats why I wanted to post. Again forgive me if my answers are already on the forum
This are my minimum specs.

Now I am looking at the Volvo or the Honda Pilot.

Are there any other SUVs comparable to the XC90 ?

this is what I am looking for in the XC90

1. Has to be XC90 2.5T model, possibly the prem & climate package.
2. Has to have 3rd row seating (ie 7 passenger)
3. This will be a USED vehicle no neet for it to be new.
4. Not more than 3yrs old

Is there anything else that I should be looking at or considering when purchasing this vehicle.

I live in Canada but I'd be buying this car in the US because it will be cheaper. I know I have to go thru all the Canadian safety /specs. That's not an issue for me.

Obviously nobody wants to buy a lemon.

Any suggestions /help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

If you drive the Pilot and XC90 back-to-back, like I did, you'll probably also find that the Pilot just doesn't compare.

If you buy from a non-volvo dealer, i strongly suggest you have a volvo specialist check out the vehicle prior to purchase. There are couple of problematic areas, namely the wheel bearings and angle gear seal.
