I haven't read Edmunds' long-term look at the Solstice but may go back and read it. Without even knowing all the problems..too slow to put the top down or fold it back in...some squeaks and rattles...yip and yap...I would give Lutz and company a big 'ole high-five for good work done on this hot little roadster. I mean, you look at what else is out there, and you look at the rest of Pontiac's lineup, this Solstice is a great looking vehicle that just has a few bugs to settle. I had to get some tweaks and fixes to my '99 Sephia and my '01 Sportage 4x4 but both settled down early on and the Sportage 4x4 is chugging along great at 124,400 miles. Cost of ownership is low. If you're not having to shell out lots of greenbacks to run your Solstice then it's a good deal...$20,000 is not unreasonable for this car to start out with...pao, you sound like your Solstice is all settled down and doing fine. I prefer the Solstice to the Miata and it's true, Mazda has had 15 years to perfect the Miata. GM has done very well with the Solstice. It is a very sporty looking roadster with distinctive looks to it.

Replying to: pao (Dec 15, 2006 11:41 am) The problem with your logic is that I'm not buying a 15 year-old Miata or buying a Solstice 15 years from now. The Solstice of today has to do as well or better than the Miata of today if people are going to choose one over the Miata. Looks will do for the first year, but after that, it's a straight up comparison. The Fiero comparison comes down to this: The Fiero was a great idea poorly executed the first year. By the time GM got around to fixing the problems with the design, sales were already dead and the car was discontinued.

Replying to: lokki (Feb 21, 2007 2:22 pm) would say that GM is hearing what the current owners want and making the improvements to the car.....just as what happened when the Miata first came out.....I would state its a straight up comparison right now for the 07 model year....and they seem to be holding their own if not better sales for the current model year |
