Writers always like to say GM is late to this market. Edmunds says, "General Motors might be about a decade late with its V6-powered, SUV-silhouetted, unibody people hauler, but GM got it right." What do you call the Aztec, Rendezvous, Equinox, SRX, Vue, Torrent, etc? Sure some of them had their flaws, but GM has been in the CUV market much longer than most. Get your facts straight.

Rated at 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, our Outlook returned a best-tank fuel economy of 19 mpg and an overall week's average of 15.5 mpg. Try that in a V8-powered three-row SUV. Trust us, it won't come close. WRONG... I drive a 2001 Yukon XL 4X2 and always get around 15 mpg city, last tank last week on actual calcuation, not trip coputer was over 16.5 mpg. On highway at 75 MPH I can get 20 MPG with a 33 gallon tank I have gone over 600 miles on one tank. The Outlook is quite heavy and is approaching the weight of the new Yukon (5400 vs 4900 lbs for 4X4 and AWD varaints respectively) the V6 will have to work quite hard especially when you put some bodies in it. I will stay with a sturdy body on frame truck/pushrod engine, for a few MPG I will stick with truck that is easily and cheaply repaired long after warranties run out, ie ease of maintainence of a RWD vs FWD vehicle.

Does anyone know the lease terms for an Outlook XR? I haven't spoken with a dealer yet but I thought someone on this forum might know. Also, does Saturn still have a one price-no haggling policy for their cars? |

Unless you use the GM plan, it has been reported that these cars are selling a MSRP. The best deals reported on these boards have been with the GMC version of this car. Board members report getting the GMC cars at near invoice pricing, better incentives than Saturn, and use of GM credit cards point (which you cannot use on Saturn). It looks like GMC is the best value for the money, but money is not everything. |
