They only want to sell, IIRC, 8k units. So not a large pool in the automotive world. quite small really.

I have a much more difficult time thinking of a smallish hatch with cloth seats and a cheap plastic steering wheel as "premium"

Well, where do you classify a Civic Si? In coupe form, it is not nearly as functional, is nearly as expensive, yet offers less power, less sound deadening, less safety features, etc. At least, that's the way I see it. What about a GTI? Is that a premium vehicle? In other words, regardless of the tag put on, it is priced competitively. It is above the likes of a Hyundai hatchback, but below the now defunct C230 hatch. I personally wouldn't call it premium until you start loading it up, at which point your complaints of cloth seats, etc, would not apply.

How well does a 6-footer fit in the volvo C-30??

I suspect quite well. It is not the measurements that count, but the seat. Mazda does not offer an 8-way power seat. If they did, it would be a different ballgame for me.

no one questions their "premium status"

You obviously don't read the boards very closely. Of all the makes I listed, there are LOADS of folks making the same comments you are now about the C30. "The ES is just a gussied up Camry" "why buy the TL when the Accord is just as good" etc etc etc.

"The only thing worse then a little car like the C30 with a slushbox is a MINI with a slushbox."

How about a Miata with a slushbox??

Overall, I would never fault someone for getting an automatic (w/ sport shift capability) on a turbo-equipped car. Sometimes turbos are no fun to shift manually in city traffic, depending on how the turbo spools up.

As an example, I find my 325i much easier, and more fun, to shift in city traffic than the A4 turbo I owned a few years back. I know this might seem blasphemous, but I might have enjoyed that A4 more if it had the slushbox.

We had been looking at Honda Civic SI 2 Dr Cpe, Ford Mustang V6 2 Dr Premium Cpe and Mazda 3 2.3L Grand Touring 4 Dr Sedan before we ran across the C30. What I ended up buying was $6K more than the other vehicles we were considering but it is WORTH IT to me. The Volvo dealer was the most impressive to me for overall product knowledge and buying experience. The vehicle has great safety features which is important because I have two teens that will be driving it. We bought our C30 V2.0 M from Volvo OKC in Oklahoma City, OK. Salesman Will Perry was TERRIFIC throughout the process. He explained every feature, option, and safety aspect of this vehicle.

I have driven ALOT of cars in the last 12 months as I have been searching for a vehicle to replace my 03 suburban and the 93 Buick Skylark my son drives. My C30 V2.0 manual is quieter plus I feel it accelerates better than the Ford, Mazda and Honda's we were looking at. We get Ford employee Z Plan on the Ford, Mazda and Volvo so they were front contenders in our search. There is something so unique about its look and the fact that you won't be running into your same car every other car you pass on the highway is a bonus deal. It has a killer 660W sound system.

My C30 V2.0 Manual Transmission was $27,962 using Ford Z Plan. MSRP was $30,095. NO DEALER DOC FEE w/Z Plan. Z Plan with Volvo is invoice.

Here is the breakdown:

host?

When I select Volvo C30 from the dropdown lists on the left of the page, all I get are the 2 article discussions. The actual C30 discussion does not show up. I'm not even sure how to find that discussion anymore.

Also, I think it is about time we start up the Prices Paid and Leasing topics on this model, no?

thanks!

If you choose Volvo C30 using the Browse By Vehicle search tool in the left sidebar, it returns the C30 groups and discussions.
I'm pretty sure the count you're seeing at that link is the two discussions plus the one group that they're in.

yeah, that's how I'm going about it.

But wasn't there an actual C30 discussion OTHER than those on the Edmunds articles??? If not (although I'm pretty sure there was), shouldn't there be?

Well it's brand new so there hasn't been much time for discussion to sprout yet

But if you have an idea for a discussion, the Volvo C30 Group would be the place to start one!
