I don't think 270 stock is too far off. I did a little digging around yesterday. Stock for my C30 was 227hp. My research into proper break-in procedures for high performance engines says that using a their method can increase horsepower 5% or more, so that brings it up to 238(5%). I read another article about air filter replacements for up to 12 more horsepower. So I can see getting 250hp stock by just replacing the paper air filter with a high quality sponge filter and selecting a proven high performance break-in method.

0-60 in 6.2 secs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that put it very near the top, if not THE top, of hot hatches.

Well... ok, there is the mazdaspeed3. Any others I'm forgetting?

I have found the new Volvo C30 and its features. I can say it is really great. And to add drama and pump up the personality, the Dual Tone volvo body kit gives you cutting-edge colour contrast (along with wind cutting aerodynamics).

Um, yeah, check out a Honda, Scion, or VW. No offense intended, but Volvo is a high end automobile. Do you remember the Mercedes whatever-it-was-called hatchback that ended production a year or two ago? No one complained about that car being an overpriced "little" car. Why? Because everyone knows that the Benz is a high end automobile. Volvo may not have the same "prestige" as a Mercedes, but its definately a higher end OEM than Honda or Toyota and VW.

The C30 (US version) is not intended as a commuter car for recent college graduates who have a lot of student loans and are starting out on the low end of the pay scale... The C30 is more or less a car for someone who has the money to throw away on a "fun" car.

I agree also because I don't think a college grad could afford $23000 starting out. I think it is intended for adults that need a car intended for the city.

I just got back yesterday from a track trying out several differant models including the c30. WHAT A GREAT CAR THE C30 IS. The automatic transmission is very smooth and doesnt gear hunt or hesitate like the others did. Incredibly smooth and quiet also.

it is a little but it helps the rear visability alot. You can see a curb right behind you!
