High mpg cars have to be very lightweight, this compromises their accident performance, esp at higher speeds. Volvo's get very good gas mileage for their size and mass as it is. |

Promise big then under-deliver. There were articles quoting Volvo execs stating that the car would have 270 bhp before introduction into the US markets. Now it's 218? No thanks. It looks sharp but can't keep up with other cars in it's price range. Again, no thanks. The American auto industry strikes again... Genius!

Replying to: eighty2 (Jul 17, 2007 2:06 pm) A little common sense why would it ever have 270 hp? It is a fwd only vehicle and 270 hp through fwd only is going to be very hard to handle. Even the most bad ass vehicle in this class only has 263 hp and it is a bear to channel all that power through fwd in a little car.

Replying to: KarenS (Aug 02, 2007 9:22 am) according to info here, it should come with 236hp, right vmax? I think its kind of funny that a 6.6 sec $23k hatchback is being chastised by the press these days as "slow." And one MAJOR oversight on the part of Edmunds: in the current car market and the fact that this detail has moved up on the list of priorities for so many buyers, you would think they would report the GAS MILEAGE.

Replying to: qbrozen (Aug 03, 2007 7:12 am) I picked up my C30 today. My drive home from the dealer was a little over 50 miles and I loved every second of it. I live in Germany and bought the American Specs version. I've been told that mine was the first American Specs model delivered in Europe. The car easily cruised at 100mph without even breaking 3100rpm. I picked V2 with the T5. I can't wait to break the 1500 mile point so I can open her up and see what she'll really do. |

Replying to: qbrozen (Aug 03, 2007 7:12 am) The show car was shown with an alleged 260hp,but that configuration was never going to be available for production.
