Just wondering why the price of 2006 models is slightly higher than the 2007 models. I thought at this time of the year, the dealser would be looking to move the remaining '06's but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is the '06 model superior to the '07 in any way? TIA

I'm about to close in on a purchase of a used '06 Mariner, with the navigation system. Unfortunately, the car does not have the navigation CD. Where can I get one of these? How much should it cost me? |

| I have a little over 5000 miles on my 2007 Merc Mariner Hybrid and the gas mileage is awful. I have been tracking closely for the last 8 gas fills and the average is running in the low 20s. I know the EPA rating is not perfect but this seems way off and not right. The dealer and Merc just seem to shrug their shoulders. Is there anything that can be done about this? | |

I just bought my '06 Mariner a little over a week ago, but I'm consistently getting between 27 and 32 MPG. I do a lot of highway driving (about 100 mi/day). I notice the milage is significantly worse before the car is warmed up when I first start up. I try to keep the car at, or about 5 miles above the speed limit (55 and 65 on the highways I take). BTW, I still need a navigation CD. Navteq says it's a 6 CD set, but that doesn't sound right. Anybody know where I can get one? |

The hybrid system doesn't work as well in the winter because the engine must stay warm. It will run until it hits 140F and will kick back on if it drops below 120F regardless of your speed. See if your mileage improves as the weather warms up. The navigation system does use 6 CDs. The maps are broken into regions. If you need to travel a great distance, say NYC to Chicago, then you will need multiple CDs and will have to compute multiple routes. The navigation in the '06 and '07 is a POS.
