#1 of 2 '96 Jimmy - swap power seat w/manual seat?

Electrical short in power seat module identified as culprit for battery drain. Cost for new module/labor is close to $1000. Can the power seat be removed, and replaced with a manual seat - bypassing the need to replace the module? Where can I find out if the base for the power seat is different than that of the manual seat? Can I gain access to a GMC parts manual to identify the seat bases for both the power seat and the manual seat just for comparison purposes?

All are the same 4 bolt pattern. Yep, my 99 LT had a short in the wires in the seat and took out the switch and module - get a new seat or parts at a junk yard and switch them out. Only possible problem is that the 2 rear bolts under the plastic covers need the seat moved forward to get them out - hope you have short legs. Ebay has some good deals on seats with some searching. Got to love that GM quality! The bolts are Torx heads.
