I realized that there is no real r32 discussion, so here it is. Feel free to ask questions about new and upcoming versions, the current versions, what you like/dislike about the car and how it compares to the competition. I personally want some real world experience from any owners so please give us your input!!!

R32 is available for order now... by bluejays

Hi eldaino-

The 2008 R32 can be ordered at your local Volkswagen dealership as we speak. It will arrive on these shores as the R32 and not the R36 many people expected. It will come solely as a three-door, six-cylinder model in bright blue with anthracite gray interior. It is my sincere belief VW should also offer it in a more sedate color like silver exterior with black leather interior for true "adults" who will be purchasing it and not just 22-year-old kids.

Really? How much is msrp? Unfortunately i am one of the 22 year old kids wanting one, but i can't wait for the car nonetheless. Do you think the r36 will ever come here? How do you feel the r32 will compare to its previous version?

Hi eldaino-

There certainly will be youthful people who will be interested in the newest R32 variant. It's just the $32,000+ pricepoint and finding insurance coverage that will make it difficult for many buyers. If the R36 ultimately makes it to these shores, it will likely be making over 300 horsepower. VW will have "some big shoes to fill" with the 2008 R32 that is available for order at dealerships now given the success of the earlier model. As mentioned earlier, it is available solely in bright blue with an anthracite gray interior as a 2-door hatchback at this time.

It's official. Only DSG. It does not look like it has improved much at all for 2008. Pretty high price tag as well.

the high price tag is to be expected, the orginal still sells almost as much as it cost brand new. What do you mean by lack of improvment? The engine has the same specs, but the power comes in sooner than in the orginal model. Plus the much more luxurious interior, even when compared to the old one, the wonderful dsg and great looks, whats not to like? Or better said what HASN"T improved?

R32 .vs. Audi 3.2 by kurtamaxxxguy

So how does the R32 compare to the A3 3.2?

Seems like the Audi is basically the same design, only with 2 more doors, a choice of interior/exterior color, at a somewhat higher cost.

Any other differences?

is the a3 3.2 all wheel drive?
Its cheaper for one.
Maybe less luxurious, even though that seems to be one of the strong points over the r32 when compared to similiarly powered awd vehicles such as the sti and evo.

Then there is the exclusivity. Only 5000 being made, you have less of a chance of running into one than a a3 3.2

Plus i've heard that the exhaust is tuned so finely its almost like listening to an m3. Wow.

As far as styling goes, maybe the chassis is similar but they have a very different look. Both very nice looks, but very different. Hence where your personal taste comes in to play.
