Hi - There is a 2007 Rondo I'm eyeing at a local dealership (Z Frank, chicago) that is listing for 21800 ... 6 cylinder LX, third row, they list it as having a "convenience package" (cruise, remote entry but I think it's the popular package). I am hoping to get them down to 13000 .... negotiate to around 19000, plus the 2500 cash back, and the 1500 competitive bonus (we qualify) and really really hoping for 2000 for our 98 Jetta. From what I've read this should be doable, but ... since there isn't anything here recent, I wasn't sure. And, when I look on Edmunds, they are only listing the 2007 as a used option, so it's rather hard to figure out the TMV ... well, it makes me unsure on how accurate it is. and please let me know if this isn't the right forum!

Costcom makes them sell for $100 over invoice which will help you establish a trading range. We got our LX on 3/28 of 07. We drove from Seattle to upstate NY then down to DC and then back to Seattle. We haven't had a stich of problems with the car and it already has 16.8K miles on it. We consistantly get 25+ mph in mixed driving.

Replying to: mr_orting (Feb 16, 2008 9:53 am) Also, they say they definitely have the 08s in stock ... which may mean being able to get an even better deal on the 07. In any case, they are listing the exact car (except the larger engine) we want: urban gray LX w a/c third row conveneince pkg crossbars and the larger engine. LIsting: 20300 My take: Invoice (per KBB) 19,245.00 (so they say). will shoot for 19, 500 minus 2500 cash back = 17000 minus 1500 competitive cash = 15500 minus 2500 trade in ... hopefully ... = 13000 (may only be 2000, so 13500) down of 500 = 12500 (or 13000) I hope that we can do that... I still have to pay the $35 for the forementioned site to see how this compares to what they say. Thanks for your help!! Julia |

Although the I-4 is a peppy engine, it would have problems pulling on a hill (has this issue with just 4 in the vehicle). It's for that reason I would have taken a V-6. >...Also, they say they definitely have the 08s in stock ... which may mean being able to get an even better deal on the 07. [Gill] There isn't a cintilla of difference between the two model years. Look to the KIA web site to see the "specials" on the 07s and do your homework, then go trading in the last week of March. This is the end of the quarter and dealers have to make their numbers and they are more apt to "deal" close to the bone to bake numers or a favorable "customer satisfaction index" number. Both those issues were in play when I purchased last March. >...In any case, they are listing the exact car (except the larger engine) we want: urban gray LX w a/c third row conveneince pkg crossbars and the larger engine. LIsting: 20300 [Gill] I can't get to my sales invoice, but that seems a little large to me. I got the same car, except for color and no 3rd seat, for the low $17s as I remember. >...My take: Invoice (per KBB) 19,245.00 (so they say). will shoot for 19, 500 minus 2500 cash back = 17000 minus 1500 competitive cash = 15500 minus 2500 trade in ... hopefully ... = 13000 (may only be 2000, so 13500) down of 500 = 12500 (or 13000) [Gill] A trade-in will put a crimp in the deal. These guys want a simple deal without complications. I might suggest that you see the trade-in as a private party. >...I hope that we can do that... I still have to pay the $35 for the forementioned site to see how this compares to what they say. [Gill] Look at Costco (on line) to establish the upper end of the trading range and then use the site I mentioned to get to the bottom line. I doubt you will get much below $1,099 from invoice as this cuts to deep. At that price the dealer acknowledged that he was loosing money on the sale, but would make a slight profit if he made his numbers.

Replying to: momgray2 (Feb 25, 2008 11:04 am) I own that exact car ('07 model), urban gray, LX, 4 cylinder, convenience package (a/c, roof rails, etc.), and 3rd row that you are looking for. Got it for $18k after taxes & everything, you should be able to do much better than that. From what I understand, if you want the EX, you have to get V6 engine to get the 3rd row, but with the LX you can get the I4 engine and the 3rd row (as I did). Sounds to me like you should go to a different dealer, they probably want to sell you the V6 and/or '08 model and are lying to do it. The I4 is plenty, even on hills. I've driven all around PA with lots of stuff/people in it without any problems. Its no sports car, but it is not underpowered and accelerates better than any mini van I've ever been next to. BTW, if you want the best price, you'll have to hunt around yourself to find a dealer that has what you want, otherwise any dealer should be able to locate it for you but you'll probably pay a few hundred more if its off another dealer's lot. |

Replying to: momgray2 (Feb 25, 2008 8:12 am) Invoice (per KBB) 19,245.00 (so they say). will shoot for 19, 500 minus 2500 cash back = 17000 minus 1500 competitive cash = 15500 minus 2500 trade in ... hopefully ... = 13000 (may only be 2000, so 13500) and ... here is what I ended up with ... Invoice 18949 (per their paperwork) -2000 trade in -1500 competitive cash -2500 cash back .... Which should be around 12949 + doc fee(150), 7% state sales (907), 1.25% city tax(162) , .75 county tax (97), $80 license registration ... which is 14385. (note on the paperwork they gave me about how much it would cost, they based the tax on 16949, so it looked way higher - not sure what the taxes really will be on ....) ... but still .. I got it for 14100 out the door they said they'd only pay 2000 for the trade in (at least that was what was on my paperwork). BUT ... they did not have it in stock. They think they can find it without the crossbars and then install then in-house, as they found that vehicle listed as being available at the local warehouse (or whatever it is called); price is 13900 without crossbars. thank you so much ... especially for telling me that I did NOT have to take a v6 to get the third row. |
