The reviews said the 6 cyl isn't worth the extra money, unless you plan to tow. So far I'm very happy - ask me again after I drive in snow. |

A reporter from a national newspaper is hoping to talk to consumers who purchased a car recently instead of waiting, fearing that prices may rise as the dollar weakens. Please reply to ctalati

Your info on your Rondo purchase was very informative & helpful. I would go the Fighting Chance route except I need to trade in my Ranger pickup, so I could not get a firm price via fax & phone. However, I live in Bellingham & will am talking with Smith Kia about a Costco price which is basically $300 over invoice (including shipping & advertising costs. But I think I can do better than that, especially with Oct 31 just around the corner. |

We sold the car in less than three days with an ad in the Tacoma paper. >However, I live in Bellingham & will am talking with Smith Kia about a Costco price which is basically $300 over invoice (including shipping & advertising costs. [Gill] That's the standard Costco price I found when I faxed around or I got MSRP. >But I think I can do better than that, especially with Oct 31 just around the corner. [Gill] He can go down $1,099 under invoice and still make a good profit if he makes his numbers for the quarter. You might also want to consider taking a 07 once the 08s come out. The factory gives a nice discount to the purchaser just to clear inventory. >So far I am not impressed with the 2 sales guys I have spoken with They are young, polite, but very laid back & do not seem very eager or motivated. They certainly are not pushy! Any chance you can divulge the name of the sales manager you dealt with? Thanks. [Gill] The person's nane was Jason and he is the finance manager for the Kia operation and their chevrolet dealership in Everett. But, since you have opened a conversation with two of the salesmen, that might complicate things a bit since they would be entitled to some of any commission. I can tell you, that you probably won't find a better car than the Rondo. We went on a 9,000 mile road trip across the country to the east coast. Loaded with luggage, my wife and I as well as two 17 year olds, and crusing consistantly at 70 to 75, I got 29 mph on my I4. Around town here, I get 25. Not one problem with the vehicle now that I have 13,000 + on it. We are well satisfied and considering giving the car to our twin grandsons and we will get a Sadona.

You could say it was love at 1st sight when I spotted a Rondo in the dealer backlot Nov 06. I though i was a wonderful combo of size, comfort for 4-5 passengers, economy, & safety features for under $20K. Only one problem - we did not a new vehicle! But I have been following the Rondo ever since & just helped a co-worker purchase one. With all the standard equipment the only option she needed was AC. Armed with the MSRP of $17,990 & invoice of $17,100 (AC & floor mats), I called 5 area dealers 100 mile radius) & found 3 cars that meet our wants. All were on the same lot - naturally the furthest away! I then emailed the dealers & heard back from 3. I called them & asked what the difference was between the Costco price & the internet price - they all said would be the same. The complicating factor was having a 98 Ford Ranger trade-in that we had not been able to sell privately. I started with our local dealer who did not have the right car on the lot. I told them we needed an out the door price of $13,300. Negotiations went pretty quickly without a lot of hassle (sales guy only had to go back to the boss twice). They gave us the NADA wholesale price for Ranger ($3,500). Adding on sales tax (8.6%) taxes & registration, license, miscell taxes, they came within $60 of our target price & I decided it was not worth the time & effort to go 30 to 100 miles down the road & dicker with a trade-in... With a $2,000 rebate we got out the door for $13,360 plus a free oil change & full tank of gas. As best I can figure our actual cost was $17,469 vs Edmonds TMV of 17,763. Perhaps we could have done better without the trade-in, but given time constraints of work & the rebate ending Oct 31, it looked pretty good. In the end we got the what we wanted at a price that seemed fair to us & the dealer. My friend will be adding an aftermarket alarm & remote entry system with a lifetime waranty for $289. Maybe get a cargo cover from Kaipartspeople.com later. I truly appreciate Edmunds & these forums that provide so much information about viturally every vehicle available. I also think it is great that they have a long term Rondo. It will be fun to compare their experiences to that of my co-worker. |

I just purchased a new 07 rondo lx... sticker 18900 for 14000. This is the base model auto a/c convience pkg 4 cyl. could have had low finance and 500 off but took the entire 2500 rebate and negotiated form there. Dealer was commonwealth and both the salesman and the sm were pleasant and non pushy. Grind consisted of six easy steps msrp, 15500 15000 14700 14500 14250 and the final (where i started 14000) I think the fact its an 07 helped a ton. anyone got one cheaper?

2007 LX I-4, Urban Gray, with AT and A/C (don't they all have?), roof rack, 7-seats. Final price: $9900, with $6500 trade = $16,400 in the driveway. The trade was a 2001 Camry with 80K, valued at the time by KBB at $6200. So I was real pleased all around. This dealer was trying hard to clear the '07's. Now, after 4 months and 3500 miles, I am realizing just what an excellent vehicle the Rondo is, making me think I stole something and owe somebody some money! |
