I just picked up my new Rondo LX w/popular equipment (AC, cruise control) yesterday, in central southern NH I paid 16450, negotiated from a sticker of 18,888. I received both the $1000 cash back plus $750, and 2.9 - not sure how they did that but they were insistent that I got both. I compared prices in the area and no one could touch that deal. I drove almost 50 miles to that dealer since the local one in the seacoast is the typical BS artist/hard sell type and I did NOT want to deal with them. I got the color I wanted with the options I wanted (and Rondos in this area are in very short supply), so I'm happy. I just hope it can deal with snow in the winter, I'm used to 4WD lease, but couldn't afford to buy one this time around.
The only thing added to the cost of the car was $27 for the state title fee - no big $250 fee for "office processing". This dealer is the bomb!

Do you know if there is any special lease programs on a the 2007 Kia Rondo. Specifically, I am interested in a EX, V6, premium, leather package?

Do you know the residuals and money factors for the above vehicle on a 24 or 36 months (12,000 miles/year)?

My understanding is that lease programs are ALWAYS money down the drain, especially when the warranty is good and the quality of the vehicle is high.

I didn't check lease prices, but I've been leasing GM's for ten years, I didn't want to lease again, and if I was going to buy and pay for something for 5 years, it wasn't going to be GM. I never put money down on a lease, and AFAIK most Kia leases require money down, but the payments I ended up with are around $260, so you could hardly go wrong with buying one.

I went from 6cyl to 4 and I don't even mind it - the 4 cyl is one zippy little engine, I hit 70 without even realizing it on the highway. The reviews said the 6 cyl isn't worth the extra money, unless you plan to tow. So far I'm very happy - ask me again after I drive in snow.

A reporter from a national newspaper is hoping to talk to consumers who purchased a car recently instead of waiting, fearing that prices may rise as the dollar weakens. Please reply to ctalatiedmunds.com no later than Monday, October 1, 2007 with your daytime contact info.

Mr Orting - Are you out there? Help needed in Bellingham. by 204meca

Your info on your Rondo purchase was very informative & helpful. I would go the Fighting Chance route except I need to trade in my Ranger pickup, so I could not get a firm price via fax & phone. However, I live in Bellingham & will am talking with Smith Kia about a Costco price which is basically $300 over invoice (including shipping & advertising costs. But I think I can do better than that, especially with Oct 31 just around the corner. So far I am not impressed with the 2 sales guys I have spoken with They are young, polite, but very laid back & do not seem very eager or motivated. They certainly are not pushy! Any chance you can divulge the name of the sales manager you dealt with? Thanks.

[Gill] Have you considered selling it privatly? We had the same isse but with a VW. We sold the car in less than three days with an ad in the Tacoma paper.

[Gill] That's the standard Costco price I found when I faxed around or I got MSRP.

>But I think I can do better than that, especially with Oct 31 just around the corner.

[Gill] He can go down $1,099 under invoice and still make a good profit if he makes his numbers for the quarter. You might also want to consider taking a 07 once the 08s come out. The factory gives a nice discount to the purchaser just to clear inventory.

[Gill] The person's nane was Jason and he is the finance manager for the Kia operation and their chevrolet dealership in Everett. But, since you have opened a conversation with two of the salesmen, that might complicate things a bit since they would be entitled to some of any commission.

I can tell you, that you probably won't find a better car than the Rondo. We went on a 9,000 mile road trip across the country to the east coast. Loaded with luggage, my wife and I as well as two 17 year olds, and crusing consistantly at 70 to 75, I got 29 mph on my I4. Around town here, I get 25. Not one problem with the vehicle now that I have 13,000 + on it. We are well satisfied and considering giving the car to our twin grandsons and we will get a Sadona.

Thanks for the confimation of the vehicle soundness and the sales manger's name. I was afraid that speaking with a sales guy here in Bham might complicate matters - Nuts! It is good to know that Jason is at the Everett dealship also. I have not spoken to anyone there, so I will try to go directly to him in Everett.

We have been advertising the Ranger for sale for a 10 days, not calls so far.

You could say it was love at 1st sight when I spotted a Rondo in the dealer backlot Nov 06. I though i was a wonderful combo of size, comfort for 4-5 passengers, economy, & safety features for under $20K. Only one problem - we did not a new vehicle!

But I have been following the Rondo ever since & just helped a co-worker purchase one. With all the standard equipment the only option she needed was AC. Armed with the MSRP of $17,990 & invoice of $17,100 (AC & floor mats), I called 5 area dealers 100 mile radius) & found 3 cars that meet our wants. All were on the same lot - naturally the furthest away! I then emailed the dealers & heard back from 3. I called them & asked what the difference was between the Costco price & the internet price - they all said would be the same.

The complicating factor was having a 98 Ford Ranger trade-in that we had not been able to sell privately. I started with our local dealer who did not have the right car on the lot. I told them we needed an out the door price of $13,300. Negotiations went pretty quickly without a lot of hassle (sales guy only had to go back to the boss twice).

They gave us the NADA wholesale price for Ranger ($3,500).
Adding on sales tax (8.6%) taxes & registration, license, miscell taxes, they came within $60 of our target price & I decided it was not worth the time & effort to go 30 to 100 miles down the road & dicker with a trade-in...

With a $2,000 rebate we got out the door for $13,360 plus a free oil change & full tank of gas. As best I can figure our actual cost was $17,469 vs Edmonds TMV of 17,763. Perhaps we could have done better without the trade-in, but given time constraints of work & the rebate ending Oct 31, it looked pretty good. In the end we got the what we wanted at a price that seemed fair to us & the dealer. My friend will be adding an aftermarket alarm & remote entry system with a lifetime waranty for $289. Maybe get a cargo cover from Kaipartspeople.com later.

I truly appreciate Edmunds & these forums that provide so much information about viturally every vehicle available. I also think it is great that they have a long term Rondo. It will be fun to compare their experiences to that of my co-worker.
