Replying to: mr_orting (Jul 04, 2007 3:52 pm) I plan on folding the 3rd row and just using it in a pinch for when I have more than 3 of my daughters friends in the car, since she can sit in the front passenger seat. I figured for $213 it can come in handy at times - probably more so than the storage under the seat. What do you mean with negotiating up? Even though the car has been priced out I can get lower? |

Ever since I started reading Edmunds.com forums, I've been getting really great deals on my last 3 vehicle purchases. Here's what I did on my Rondo: I bought the LX 4 cynlinder with the Convenience package and floor mats priced at $18,880 MSRP. I negotiated the price of the car down to $17,200. I qualified for the $750 owner loyalty plus the $500 rebate combined with 2.9 % financing. That put the price of the car at $15,950 after all rebates and at $16,978 out the door (tags, processing, tax, etc). So out the door, I got $1902 off sticker which I don't think is too shabby. The crazy thing was the general manager actually showed me a sheet with his actual cost (not invoice) to prove that he couldn't go any lower when I tried to knock a little more off. His actual cost on the vehicle was $16,950 so he made a $250 profit on it. With all that being said, I had a couple questions. The particular car I bought had one of those dealer markup stickers on it. The charged a $4000 "market adjustment" plus $500 for detailing the car and $299 for vin sketching or something like that. That made the actual sticker on the car over $24,000 for an LX!!! I told the sales guy right away I wasn't paying that and that's when I made my offer. My question is that do people really look at that and pay it without asking questions? Just seems like that would be illegal to inflate the price of a vehicle so much. My 2nd question is that I used to have 2004 Kia Optima (loved it by the way) that got traded in when I bought my Toyota Yaris (I have a long commute to work so I needed something with better gas mileage, still miss the optima). I still had the original sales paperwork and that's what I took to them to get the rebate. When I got home, I read on the Kia website that you have to be a "current" owner of a kia to qualify for the loyalty. The dealer said everything was cool just with the sales order, but I'm wondering if Kia runs a check on the VIN to see if you are still a "current" owner. My fear is that they'll contact me asking for $750 if they see that the car was transferred to another owner before I purchased the Rondo. Thoughts? Thanks so much! Edmunds rocks! |

On 6_15_07 I purchased a five passenger Rondo EX with the Premium Package, I4 engine, cross rails, cargo cover and cargo mat, cargo net, and the rear bumper guard. The car also had the optional rear spoiler that sits below the rear window. My purchase price including the BS documentation fees and title fee, was $22,500. This price also included our 7.75% sales tax. I could have done better in the price paid ( a straight cash deal) BUT I could have done worse too. Basically I bought the car and they threw in the sales tax and a couple of hundred too.

Conwelpic mentioned in another thread about how in Canada we have to pay a fee to see the invoice price. I did just that earlier in the year for the EX. Just to level the playing field a little, I'm going to post what I paid for. The following Canadian invoice prices don't include freight and PDI ($1,495), nor the cost for metallic paint ($125). As of March 5, 2007: EX $20,528 EX V6 $21,461 EX Premium $22,394 EX V6 Luxury $24,261 For comparison to the MSRP, go to: http://www.kia.ca/calculator.asp?lang=en |

On Aug 23rd, I paid 17051 for LX 4 Cyl with Popular Equipment, Convenience packages, 3rd row seat and 4 piece carpeted floor mats. Then they added 349 doc fee. Destination charge is included. This price is after 1000 rebate (2.9% 60 months). Kansas City area.
