Ad claims it is a V8 AWD...but that doesn't mean a lot, as that DTS ad was so wrong, and sellers get many others wrong too. I don't even mind the color. I haven't heard anything bad about STS reliability either, it's just kind of a car that doesn't attract attention. Probably nicer to drive than a Camcord.

Indeed, STS sounds like a decent car when one doesnt care for image. A 2-3 yr old CPO STS v6 can be had for the same price as a Camcord, comes w/ the same warranty, and much much better to ride in, which makes it a no brainer.

DTS, meanwhile, isnt my flavor, but I can definitely see the point for its existence. best ride and size for the price, who can beat that? for now, at least.

I've never bought a car for image....you are not what you drive. When I tested the 3-series, the drive sold me. I already am familiar with the typical US car that is good going straight, has vague steering feedback and floats along. Emergency maneuvers be damned!

The 335, 135, G35 and IS350 are the top of the class in road worthy steel and watch out for Audi next year. Merc is still more luxo but is getting it.

When you appreciate a good tool you start to understand why there is a market for lower delivery product. Most people want reliable transportation and could care less about proper driving dynamics. But more and more people are signing on to appreciate the drive-ability vs. living-room-ability. Hence, Caddy woke up and finally produced a good road car. Now they need to smooth out the A&S. I see a great deal of q-tips driving a CTS in NJ. Is there a Pasadena, NJ??

The previous CTS-V is a great example of the old philosophy of drag racing technique, only the professional drag guys and now gals do it much better after market. The new V is a top class road sedan contender just like the current generation 'vette is for sports coupes. Only now, has GM returned to competitive metal, IMHO. But halo cars are not the answer. Great cars are the answer, like in the past.

CTS, Malibu, G8...that's it for now.

Took long enough. So slow, it hurts!

Problem is, no more money, HONEY! Where do we go from here?

Regards,
OW

I'd also like to add the Cadillac DTS and the Buick Lucerne - two excellent automobiles and those at the pinnacle of my car shopping A-list. Come to think of it, they're the ONLY cars I would truly seriously purchase.

The quality, power and performance of these cars for the money is amazing!! Cost of ownership is far less than an M5 or AMG. And the 6 Speed manual.....Yummmm. The performance is definitely right on target with both. I would suggest obtaining one on the used car market as values tend to take a pretty significant hit within the first 24 months of ownership.

GM seems to finally be listening to consumers....Afterall, they are adding more sub-compacts to the lineup. Can Cadillac make a comeback.....Possibly, however other manufacturers offer some stiff competition. The definitely need to work on some major reliability issues across the manufacturers lineup.

Well, OW, you and I seem to have similar preference in buying a car. For those looking for comfy transportation (emergency maneuvers be damned like you said ), there's no substitute for those matress on wheels.

Is GM listening? Yes, finally, and incredibly they've started to listen to both sides of the field, sending G8s and CTS for performance oriented buyers, and still deliver DTS for comfort seekers.

Is GM moving too slow? Regarding products, yes. But they're expecting too much on profit, making ridiculous pricing on CTS, SRX, and STS. So in terms of expectation, GM is setting its expectations too high. For now...

m4d, you give a very accurate view of GM and Caddy. Still costs too much as you pointed out.

I hope they finalize the smaller car that was in the works and use the GOOD PARTS to build it!

OW

It's been a l-o-n-g time, if ever, since any of you driven a big Cadillac. They are nothing like the big boats of the 1970s and I had one - a 1975 Sedan DeVille. The Cadillac DTS handles itself very well in emergency maneuvers and I should know as I complete many of them in the crazy city traffic of Philadelphia and environs.

If GM is charging too much, why are they not making a profit? What do you think the price tag should be? How much do you think it costs to build a CTS or an STS?
