Better get it checked out right away by a professional. The longer you wait the more damage you will have to repair.

Check it out at JASPER.COM My dealer here in NY (marchese chevy) has put 4 that right 4 rebuilts from gm and the one in there know is acting up. 62k miles. Dealers to me are like drug dealers and all people in D.C. that we vote for, their all full of BULL!#$. CJ. 99 tahoe, 125,000 miles, when put in drive, takes 1 2 seconds before kicking in to be able to drive. when first starting and running, morning only jerks and hestates like a miss, but i don't think thats it, Aamco says fluid looks ok but smells burnt and need tranny rebuilt, what do you think Replies to this message: rockman59 (Aug 18, 2009 7:28 pm)

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank...the tank must be taken down, the pump must be removed and a new pump installed. You are looking at somewhere between $700 and $900 according to all the reports I have seen. What a crazy place to put the pump...unless GM wanted their dealers to make some extra bucks on the replacements.
