It is using some volvo tech from the engine and safety systems but it is not a XC90 rebadge. Check out my LR2 thread.. british_rover, "2008 Land Rover LR2" #1, 1 May 2006 6:51 am The LR2 will most likely spawn a corporate cousin for volvo called the XC50 but the Volvo version will not get the same AWD system or the terrain response system. Basicly it loses all of the off-road bits the LR2 has. No word yet if Volvo will get the XC50 stateside.

The test drive of LR2 failed to mention the cabin noise level. I want to know if LR2 runs really quiet on the urban streets as well as the Hwy. This is important factor for me because I have sensitive hearing. I can't tolerate noisy SUV. Does the LR2 omit the adjustable suspension like the LR3? I am aware that it has different driving modes settings. Replying to: picard12 (Dec 19, 2006 2:11 pm) No one has even driven a production model yet so no way to know. If it is anything like the rest of the current Land Rovers it will be very, very quiet. I read review of LR3 from road track magazine that indicated the suspension broke down after 21000miles. The cost of repair is very expensive. How quiet is the LR3 interior compare to Lexus? this is important feature for me in choosing right small SUV. I have sensitive hearing which I can't tolerate loud tire noise or background noise to intrude into the cabin. Replying to: picard12 (Dec 19, 2006 10:25 pm) I think you are confusing the old obsolete Electronic Air Suspension(EAS) in the 2002 and older Range Rovers with the modern EAS system in the LR3 and Range Rover Sport. Early build LR3s had air suspension faults where the system would not let you raise or lower the car or the car got stuck at one height. This was because the air compressor for the system needed to be larger. All LR3s now have this larger compressor and all older LR3s have had the small compressor replaced with the new Larger Unit. This was part of a vehicle enhancment campaign that inculded some software updates as well. As to noise just compare the GX470 to the LR3 to the Supercharged Range Rover. Lexus GX470 Full Test 73 Db 70 mph cruise. Land Rover LR3 63 Db 70 mph cruise. Range Rover 72 Db 70 Mph cruise. Replies to this message: picard12 (Dec 20, 2006 4:27 pm)

Well, I guess LR is a niche player, eh? I thought maybe I had found my next vehicle when I saw a blurb about the LR2 in Automobile magazine today. A small, relatively inexpensive and fuel-efficient fairly luxurious SUV with great off-road characteristics? I mean it's a Land ROver, right? Then I find that the thing is AWD with a little knob to bias the system depending on terrain? No Low range 4WD? I guess Ford figured it was time to screw up Land ROver too. Might as well get a Jeep Compass or a Ford Edge for that matter. I'd love to hear an LR guy convince me that this AWD system could hold a candle to a true low range 4WD. Replying to: heyjewel (Feb 12, 2007 10:28 pm) Again look at the specs of the LR2. There is not another vehicle in its market segment, small premium SUV, that will touch it off-road. The terrain response system is standard across the board for Land Rover now and is actually very impressive. Low Range would not be appropriate for the LR2. It would just get an over confident driver in trouble because the LR2 does not have the EAS(Electronic Air Suspension) with cross linked valves like the rest of the Land Rovers. The axle articulation, ground clearance and approach/departure angles are already better then just about everything else in its class.
