hi,I got a 1986 vandura 2500 van,305engine,I flushed out the heat core,it was brown,I fixed the vacum lines,checked the cable for the hot& cold door but no hot air yet,could it be the core is bad or what!

hi,ok I changed the heater core,it had brown mud in it and leaks,but still its not as hot hot as it should be,whats the problem!!

How is the thermostat?

You found some leaks, make sure you get them all. Make sure your radiator is full. Check your heater core for leaks. It could be leaking to the outside of the van. And finally, check your thermostat.
I had the same problem. Had to do all of this, and finally found a leak that was very hard to track down. I was losing about a 1/2 gallon of antifreeze a week but could see no significant leak. Only an occasional drip coming off the rear of the engine by the flywheel. Turns out the heater hose clamp at the thermostat housing had stripped out and would not tighten down, when the pressure rose it would blow out on top of the intake manifold. Had to take off the doghouse and air cleaner just to see the antifreeze.
