"All other comparable SUVs in the market has the passing acceleration like the MDX. So what does the MDX has that sets it apart from the rest except for value."

Sorry.....off the line because Acura chose taller gearing..sure. Passing at passing speeds when I already have the engine above 4000 rpm, sorry, I'll take the Acura. You seem to be concentrating on acceleration alone. The Acura didn't beat the X5 and match Porshe, on acceleration alone. So it "feels" slow to you. It may not to others. Meanwhile, the numbers and facts, things that are immune to "feelings" say different.

Things that set the MDX apart from the others, other than value.

1. SH-AWD - its very underated at this point, but its the main reason it was competitive with the X5 and the Porshe on the track.

2. Sport Suspension - Second Reason

3. Tech Package - Sorry...even without the touch screen, I'll take the Acura's navi and ELS sound system(I think Edmunds.com agrees) over the others any day.

Not everyone is looking for your "feeling" and will find a lot to like about the MDX other than "value".

I am glad you like your MDX. Have you driven the others?

SH-AWD is still front wheel bias.

SS - You may be right. The MDX I drove did not have it. I still believe that Japanese (Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus and Nissan/Infiniti - Best SS of the bunch) vehicles still have a ways to go to compete with the likes of BMW, Audi and Porsche.

Tech Package - I have to say Honda makes the best NAV.

Bottomline, It is value if you lump all those items you listed. If the X5, Q7, Cheyenne, FX and MDX all cost the same, will the MDX be the SUV of choice?...Value gets the buyers through the doors for them.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "SH-AWD is still front wheel bias." SH-AWD has a front wheel bias when under light load, but it doesn't matter under light load. When it counts, it moves the torque around: accelerating straight, it shifts torque to the rear to prevent torque steer; cornering, it actually overdrives the outside rear wheel and rotates the car.

It has none of the throttle-on understeer that plagues way too many vehicles, and the magnetic shocks are amazingly effective at controlling body motion. It really is quite satifying to drive, at least in the Sport model. Reminds me of a lower-torque version of my '03 BMW 540i Sport in rotation and body control. Pretty impressive.

If they did cost the same, and you took all the badges off the vehicles and did not have a predetermined bias towards any manufacturer....the one with the items I mentioned would be a very competitive vehicle and would sell well. Period.

Yes, if you like to drive mundane/boring vehicles. I for one is not partial to brand but am only interested in the performance of a vehicle, that only can be experienced by driving it, and not by any published numbers. Each person drives a vehicle differently so with that said, the MDX did nothing for me. However, love the gadgets! I am not bias toward Acura/Honda. I have owned 5 Hondas/Acura would buy one again if I just want to get from point A to B. With my BMW, I always look forward to driving it because it is so much fun to drive.

There are many ways to measure performance. Some like to jump off stop lights. Others like to carve canyon roads at high speeds.

Based on what I've read, I'd say the MDX is among the best when the road gets twisty. However, it's probably mid-pack when it comes to boulevard warfare.

Given that most of the other V6-equipped competitors out there are not any better at the lights, I don't see this as a problem. Not offering a V8 as many others do will hurt the Acura a bit. But based on the history of this segment, I don't see it being a problem for *most* of the buyers. For a while, Acura will sell as many as they can build.

I'm sorry, but no one here is arguing except for you. I guess you will have to defend your purchase to the end. I expect it. I am just telling you my opinion if you don't mind. Like it or not, you do not have to respond. I for one was ready with cash to buy the 07 MDX, but left not impressed. I think you just simply don't understand that some people just do not like the product at any price. Sorry to break your bubble, but not everyone thinks like you. Honda/Acura make a great product and I cannot dispute that. I have standards just like you but mine is a little higher.
