Review is dead on by burts

I own an '07 MDX Sport/Entertainment, and this review is dead on. Great handling/ride/body control compromise, soft on torque off the bottom but good once rolling, very nice interior. Third row is tight-- ok for kids or for adults that you hate.

Having owned mostly BMWs as daily drivers over the recent years ('03 540i w/Sport, '00 528i Wagon w/Sport, '95 M3), I was skeptical that an SUV could deliver satifying driving dynamics. But Acura proved me wrong with this thing.

Edmunds said "As for the third row, well, we're told it's intended for humans."

That third row is real good for generating snappy quotes.

Nice review, but let's give the late WalteR Payton the respect he deserves.

You say that he MDX stereo is the best you have heard. What about the "Studio on Wheels" system in the new Infinti G35? With its 10 subs up front having a front soundstage has to be at least a little better than having the bass all coming from the rear. And what about systems that have the surround speakers in the seats?

Outgunned? by suvguy2005

"Outgunning all other six-cylinder-powered rivals including the BMW X5, Lexus RX 350 and Porsche Cayenne"

The MDX does 0-60 in 8.1 seconds. The Infiniti FX35 will do 0-60 in 7.3 seconds.

Well, MT reported 7.5s (someone posted above) for MDX, but there's more to "outgunning" than a straightline 0-60 run.

That said, FX35 is about as powerful and a lot lighter/smaller so it should be quicker at least in a straightline. I would be surprised if it isn't.

The human ear is not capable of picking up the direction of low frequency vibrations. As long as it's loud enough to be heard, the placement matters very little. That's why subs are often stashed in the darndest places.

Yeah, I'm a little skeptical of the term "outgunning" in this application. That's a blanket statement which doesn't quite jive.

But, to be fair, there are different ways of measuring performance. Based on the reports coming back from Beaver Run, the MDX outran the Porsche and BMW on the straight sections of track. But that's not the same as a 0-60 acceleration run. And there's been no mention of the FX35 even being there.

Furthermore, because of it's relatively small interior, some magazines are pitting the FX35 against the likes of the X3 and RDX.

Even so, this Pansonic system is better. There's plenty of bass up front and the sound stage is nearly perfect. Bass is plentiful, deep and punchy. Only the Lexus/Mark Levinson system and the Audi/B&O are in the same ballpark, no, same city as this audio system.
