Long-Term Test: 2007 Honda Fit - As with all long-term test vehicles, we test performance capability at the beginning and end of the one-year period. After 1,000 miles of daily use we took the Fit to our testing facility where it accelerated from zero to 60 in 9.5 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 17 seconds at 79.8 mph. (more)

Test drove the new one... And hated it.

Cheap hard plastices EVERYWHERE.

Whiney engine that sounding it like was going to fall out.

Weak, hard seats. And power? What power. thing just wheezes along.

Very nice package, but too many cheap like things going on that I'd pass on it for 17K.

$67 for a for an Air Filter?!?! Only with OEM stealership parts. IIRC I paid $12 for my last WIX filter for my Liberty CRD.

$600+ for brakes? by bankerdanny

According to Autozone.com, you can get 2 rotors & a set of pads (their best quality) for about $100 plus tax. I know from doing brake jobs on at least a dozen different cars over the years on that front brakes take a couple hours to replace in your driveway. The only time I came close to spending that kind of money I had a pro replace the rotors and calipers on my '96 Taurus SHO.

I can't hold the Fit responsible for IL wasting $600 on brakes any more than I do their BMW M3 for them spending 3x the cost of the parts to replace the alternator.

In the real world people with actual budgets (a likely owner of a $15k auto) would have found a much cheaper source for the repair id they could not do it themselves.

Just out of curiosity, what would you get instead of the Fit?

I'm amused by the results of the test. I bought a 2007 Fit Sport for my wife. The car now has 30,000 miles, and I've self-performed all maintenance.

I have had absolutely no problems with the car. Nothing has broken, no wear items have worn, etc. Simply changed the oil/rotated the tires every 5k miles. My guess isthe dealer was right about the loose bolt in the tranny.

Based on my use of the car, I can't imagine how the Edmunds staffers wore out the brake pads in so few miles. I even took the Fit out in a High Performance Driving weekend Virginia International Raceway. Hard, threshold braking from 75-96 mph during eight 25 minute sessions. No fade, nothing. and the pads still have 60% of their life.

While we have the auto version, our mileage is usually 28-29 in city driving, and we average between 36-40 on the highway. I've tracked all gas expenditures since the beginning, and these numbers are pretty consistent.

As for the front seats, I agree on the comfort level of the seats on long trips (it is a $15K car) but not on seating position. I find the seating position just fine, just a little high (by design). People of varying heights have driven the car and I've never heard a complaint.

It's been a great car, providing exactly what it is designed to do. I would buy another.

What's with the styling by keyser2

The Fit, along with most other Honda products these days, has polarizing styling. I can't get past it. Their stuff either looks just plain ugly or in the case of the Fit, like a little toy.

I was like you for a long time and then I got over it. I think what got me over it was the fact that the Fit look pretty "normal" looking compared to Scions! I could not buy one of those!
