Did you find a solution to your heater problems?
Your description of the problem is identical to my issue.
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.6l Eddie Bauer with Dual Climate Control.
I purchased the HeaterTreater Blend door thinking it would correct the problem, however after I took out the actuator motors (the dual climate control system has TWO), I discovered the BLEND Door was find and both actuators were working properly also.
I want to know how you were able to fix your problem.

Try Flatratetech dot com. You can do a search or post your issue if you can't find anything that explains it.

Hi. I have a 95 4x4 explorer with v6 engine. I have owned this car since new and it has provided me with excellent service. Recently, I was bringing it home from my mountain cabin, outside air temp was 9 F. If the defrost was on, the engine temp gauge would shoot way to the right, near the red zone. If the defrost was turned off, temp dropped down within seconds to normal. I cycled this several times and got the same results. If I ran the air conditioner alone, it would not do this. Coolant level is normal. New heater core, about 1 year old. Any ideas??

I have a 98 Explorer, I have heat coming out of the vent near my feet when all the climate controls are off. This works fine in the winter but its starting to get warm and I no longer need cold feet. Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and my right foot/shoe.

Put your climate control in recirculate position and then turn it off.

Apr 26, 2011 (2:42 pm)
my heat stays on, no matter what position the knobs are in. Constantly blowing warm out.
Also when I purchased the vehicle, the dealership said they needed to add refrigerant. It lasted only two weeks at minimal useage. I added 2 more cans and no cold at all. HELP Im hot all the time!!

the temp door actuator motor is most likely the problem, look behind glove box(allow glove box door to open beyond the stopping point)let the door swing down, the actuator motor is located on top of the blower box toward the middle of the vehicle. It has a single plug in(small)with multi0wires on the plug in,the actuator motor is flat, and is held in with three hex head screws, the rear one is the hardest to get to,this motor is not moving and changing the temp,to cold,it is staying in one spot on the hot side.
