I don't have the same problem but I can verify that the Ford mechanics at the dealer ship are stupid. I had a whistling sound in my 2003 Explorer in cold weather when I accelerated. It was under warranty so I took it in about five different times and they couldn't "duplicate" the sound. I told them it happened every morning when I pulled out of my driveway so come over to my house and then drive it. It was all set up (and I only live about 1/2 mile away) and then they called at the last minute to just have me bring it in. Of course, it made the noise on my way there but not when the guy got in and drove it 10 miles. I finally took it to another dealership and it took them a full week to even figure it out. It was the alternator so they replaced it and now it's doing it again and I don't have a warranty!

I have a 99 explorer that had the broken blend door problem. No help from Ford on the issue! I found a kit on ebay called Heatertreater. It was easy to install, and saved me a ton! This guy is a genius.

I have the electronic climate control in my "96 eddie bauer. The system's air is going through the defrost vent (both heat and ac). No matter how I try to redirect the air it seems stuck in this position. Is this the blend door or something else?

I have the EXACT same problem with 2002 Explorer. I have the dual control but I never use it.
I called Ford and they told me to bring it in when it is acting up but they did not offer any idea as to what the problem is.
Did you ever get an answer?

The ac makes noise in the max ac position and on speed 3 and 4 sounds like leafs fluttering in the dash. Replace ac motor and still hear the noise. It quit for 2 days and has started back again. Any help would be appreciated

Not yet did take the explorer to Ac place and got some oak leaves out and the noise quit but have since taken it apart and can't see anything else up there to make the noise and its back .

I have a 2002 Explorer Ltd with dual zone climate control. The AC was blowing warm air. I recharged the system with 14 oz of refrigerant and can hear the compressor coming on and off every few seconds (did not hear compressor previously). The AC on the drivers side is now blowing cool air (not cold like when it was new) but the passengers side is blowing warm air. This must be related to the climate control, I am not sure if I should add another can of refrigerant or if something else is wrong.

Yes I did find out what the problem was, It was the evaporator core it was filled with dust particles it was easier to replace but they say you can pull it out and blow air with a compressor to clean it out from one side to the other.
